Virginijus Alunderis had a great season, a real breakout year. Winless before, he now has five wins to his name, including three Grand Tour stages.

The clear highlight was the Giro d'Italia, the mountain stages in the third week netted him two stage wins, a move up to 5th in the final GC and the white jersey.
Tour and Vuelta weren't quite as successful, he lacked consistency in the mountains and failed to make the top 10 both times. He still got very close to a stage win in the Tour and surprisingly bagged a hilly stage in Spain.
