Block 7 results
With 2 monuments in 1 block, some records were probably going to get broken. After Pogacar won the Ronde, all eyes were on Roubaix. It was a controversial Carrefour de l'Arbre, but in the end Mathieu won it for the Hussars. Philipsen was not selected, combines with Scheldeprijs this cost the Wolves 330 points in this block. Wout finished 3rd, making his manager wonder if he was the best pick.
After that, we has Paris - Camembert, a very tasty race. Ferron won it for the Wolves with more in depth scoring from them, making one wonder how far they would've gone with an active manager. Which brings us to the rankings.
The Hussars were simply unstoppable this round. Best team in Roubaix, second best in Scheldeprijs and Camembert, third best in Ronde. A record 640 points for them, giving them quite a gap and basically making it their game to lose at this point.
But it's not over. The Hussars Ardennes squad shows some weaknesses and the next 3 teams should not give up. In 2nd place are the 59'ers, who were a bit unlucky this round. Only 4 points behinds are the Cobblers, once again making the most of the monuments.
Then it's 41 points to the Red Lanterns. While Pogacar delivered for them, Van Baarle did not. But with the Ardennes coming up, Pogacar might be the best weapon to still win this game.
The Hornets are 5th, and it looks like fighting for the podium is all they can do for now as Wout van Aert did not deliver in the big races. Next are the W, where Pedersen is really delivering for them this season. The Fainthearts had a really good pick with Ganna in Round 14. The Paladins drop further down to 8th.
The Nosepickers thank Gianni Vermeersch for some good scoring this round, but can't be too happy about the rest of the team. The Bombers can't keep up after missing the deadline. The Grandmas are just not getting anything done this season, scoring 0 in Roubaix and missing the Martin point in Camembert.
At the bottom the Tulips had a good round and leave the Wolves behind them. A top 10 could still be possible for both teams though.

Not having picked Ganna despite having to choose so many Italians is definitely my biggest regret.
Roubaix was a really bad scoring for me, with van Baarle out (at least some assist points from him) and Mozzato just missing the scoring positions. I expected Menten at Paris - Camembert but apparently he changed his mind.
Unfortunately I have too few riders on the startlist for the next block. This also seems to be a result of recent startlist changes.

We're a solid mid-table team I guess. And we can easily see why, just looking at the first two rounds. De Lie has been decent, but by far not as strong as last year. And Ewan was a mishit for R2 as well. Instead, my two best scorers so far come from R14 (Ganna) and R13 (Welsford) - certainly a lot of luck in those late rounds, but not so good for the rest of the bunch. Walscheid at least had a strong P-R and has almost 100 points.
Most of the remaining riders were drafted for the last two blocks, though, so there's hope that Higuita et al. might gain us one or two spots. However, I don't have 8 riders on the startlists so far, so let's see how it goes...

Operation catch up has started! The Hussars don't score, so the Red Lanterns, 59'ers and Cobblers are all gaining on them. At the bottom the Grandmas scored pretty well and put pressure on the Bombers.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well, that's funny... At first I thought De Lie on the startlist was a mistake, but no, he actually showed a strong race to finish 7th. While puncheur Clarke just didn't feel like competing, probably too easy hills for him ^^

Block 8 results
With Pogacar unleashed, there was no stopping the Red Lanterns this block. Interestingly, they are the only team that won two blocks so far, as the previous blocks have all been won by different teams.
But the Hussars did put up a fight. Pinot scored well for them in the two French classics, and they did their best in the Gold Race. Also returning from a succesful trip in France are the Grandmas and the W.
In the ranking the Hussars remain on top, with what I would consider to be a safe lead if it wasn't for Pogacar. They are 238 points behind with one block to go, but Fleche and Liege are races that should suit him really well.
Behind them the Cobblers take the last podium spot for now, although their gap to the 59'ers is really small. Then there's a 200 point gap to the Paladins, who had a really good Amstel, but the podium will be hard to reach.
Next up are the W, who just scored consistently each race and look set to finish in the upper half. The Hornets had a horrible round, scoring just 1 point, compliments of Jenno Berckmoes. The Fainthearts did not capitalise on that though, with an only slightly better round of their own.
The Nosepickers aren't gaining much on the above teams, and even a great Evenepoel performance won't get them close enough. In fact the Grandmas are coming closer after a very consistent round. They jumped over the Bombers to the final top 10 spot.
At the bottom the Tulips know they need a really good result to win places. The Wolves probably won't be able to escape the last place.

Rather disappointing to have this as my (comparatively) worst block. Would have hoped for more from Mohoric and Costa, and not sure what happened to Teuns. Would be nice to close the gap to the Cobblers and finish in third place, but not sure how much we can score on this last block.
