If he's telling the truth and hasn't been doping before, that can be seen as good news. If an average climber can suddenly ride top 3 and win the polka dot jersey in the tour by using CERA you could conclude that the amount of riders that is also using CERA can't be that high, but that's probably a naive conclusion. |

He's properbly just trying to save a little of his ass, by saying that he hasn't doped before, but again, as Isso said, his watteges has improved just to much since last year, so maybe he was clean before.

Both are stopping it because they said together (don´t ask me why) or not
Also because of that , the Deutschland Tour 2009 isn´t anymore again :/ (Lack of interest , sponsors etc.) |

i think the really bad news is that the deutschland tour is stopped because the reporting of ard and zdf in germany were not really about how nice the sport is, it was more like reporting about the doping and talking cycling bad.
We still have eurosport to transmit the tour

That's such a shame. What a bad day for German cycling. Some better German news is that Ullrich has said that he's definitely not coming back.
.. and Schumacher still won't say anything at all. |

i hope schumacher will say everything like kohl did.
It is the only chance for sport to beat the doping, to get them who sell it

Kohl hasn't said anything yet. And I doubt he will. He'll probably end up naming some intermediary instead of who REALLY supplied him and advised him. |

hmm i think that would be what Basso did. But i really hope Kohl is better then that. But if he says everything he will never get a new contract like jaksche. That is really difficult in cycling

I think Kohl will name his supplier, if he is not affraid of them or something like that ( could be a risky buisness)
I also think Kohl is genuinly really fucked up right now, i must I admit i felt a bit bad for him at the press conference when he cried. I can't help it because Kohl has always been one of my favourite riders.
I am certain of one thing though, and that is that Kohl is a much better person than Schumacher, I don't really see him confessing and apologizing to his teammates. |

I don't feel bad for druggies. Fool boi! Yes he screwed up, and for that he should face ejection from the sport.

The problem is the omerta in cycling. If he confesses exactly who gave him the drugs, he'll never get another team. If he says it was all his own doing he'll be back the moment his suspension ends. |

I just read the news that the tour of Germany is all over. I find it silly as personally i see it as the most stupid way to show an opinion on doping. It keeps conjuring thoughts about the Boycott thread, i have nothing against the Germans but not broadcasting the TDF and now stopping the Tour of Germany is as bad as setting up that Boycott thread. Its stupid, we fight the war against doping as a world having a nation who has a fissy fight every time some good news crops up and a doper is caught and sanctioned is stupid. Grow Up Germany. |

Germany obviously has some other moral standings than everyone else at the moment. It's a bit of a shame since it might also mean that Milram will close down.
Also, I like ASO's reaction. They are a bit unsure what to do. Everyone wants the dopers to be caught, and when they do, German media decides to shut down the transmission. So, what can they do? Search for dopers and on purpose not tell them about the positive test?

German cycling is dead , I think we are punched many many years behind , I think we are in the early 90ties , Eurosport just shows TDF , some germans are there but no "Ullrich" , with Ullrich started cycling in Germany after Didi Thurau
So I think every german race (I think only "Hamburg Cyclassics will "survive" is dead , Deutschland Tour , Rund um Köln , Rund um den Henninger Turm etc. but amateur cycling is still booming in Germany
There are many diffrent comments about Ullrich (his manager said no , some friends of him said he is still in shape and trains a lot etc.) , but he said to Eurosport that he will held definetly a farewell race with Indurain and Armstrong , 2006 and 2007 weren´t so good that he could held that race

Germany is stupid , especially in sports (Olympics -> doping = doesn´t interest somebody because were do I see skeet shooting in the regular program? Also there isn´t a german so who cares) , is someone other doped were Germans are very successful they say : These stupid dopers stole us a win , but if a german dopes or there are many dopers they say : Who will look at such a dirty sport?)
We have some sport sites where you can comment news , I will bet that there is at least everywhere in Germany :
1 comment thats very funny
1 comment thats definetly right
10 stupid comments
Here just a example from the news "Ullrich plans maybe a comeback"
The head : Like in old times
I didn´t watch cycling anymore! Thats not clean anough. At the time were wasn´t doped , as there rode respectable sportsmen like Ulle , Lance , Wino , Hamilton , Beloki , Mayo , Heras and Pantani , that was honourably sport! So that can be only better!
From : Ulles greatest fan XD
Milram has got a plan if there happens definetly something in their team , somewhere other etc. (also they said with the stop in Germany things have changed (because in Germany they are just seen at Eurosport and even not at german races) they are well planned so I think they could be also very quick away , in times were Milram could get a boost like the Deutsche Telekom 1996 when they have 1-2 riders who are german , really good and have success , the Telekom wasn´t much known (even they were at that time under the german postal service , later they were (are) a private company) but with Ullrich and Zabel , Telekom boomed , why Milram doesn´t stay even when there are dopers
The goverment thinks about to stop put money in German cycling so people are affected who doesn´t have to do anything with that , the amateurs and the youth riders...
I think about to write a long letter to our Bundespresident (everyone can send him a letter cool not?) because thats definetly not right what the goverment is doing right now
So :
Kohl held a press conference and he will definetly name the people behind his doping but he would like to take time, also Silence quitted his contract
Schumacher still says nothing (so I think Kohl won´t ride anymore but Schumacher will do so he shuts up)
The gerolsteiner team wrote an explination (If you want that I will translate that) were they (just the german team members because the italians weren´t "gettable" are distancing of Kohl and Schumachers doping and they are appealing to them that they should name their doping men
Bert Grabsch (I wonder why there was when he was winning the World Championship just a 20 seconds news at every german news station...) wrote for a german cycling site something with the title "Cycling is the punching bag of the nation"
Holczer won´t do anything with cycling because of the 2 dopers
24.000 Euros were just move from the german government to the German Pro-Riders (BDR) |

I laughed my ass of while reading that, unbelievable how uninformed some people are.
But it actually makes sense, what ARD and ZDF does, they only care about sensation journalisme which makes people watch the borig news anyway. And by stating not to to show cycling, they get lot of attention, without having it to cost them a cent. Pure buisness from the Germans, sadly.

Something is seriously wrong with anti-doping authorities
Read this. It's stupid. It's very stupid.
2 riders of the infamous LA MSS team are now suspended. And both cases are very stupid.
Pedro Cardoso, very respected, known as a gentleman of portuguese cycling has been tested positive for cortico. 1 year suspension.
WHAT? Cortico is heavy duty drugs and automatic 2 year suspension. why just 1 year? stupid.
But the stupidity is far more reaching.
João Cabreira, reigning portuguese national road race champion had the authorities at his house to perform an out of competition control. Standard stuff.
It just happened that he wasn't in. Fine. They're required to wait 30 mins for him and if he's still not in, call him to ask where he is to go there and control him.
Instead they just left and it counted as a missed test on his part.
To compound the stupidity, he was suspended for 10 months for "missing" that single control. How many riders are out there with 1, 2 or even 3 missed controls this season? answer: hundreds.
This is beyond stupid. It's moronic. |

In Pedro Cardoso's case you left out one interesting part... He had a prescription for the substance and it was accepted by the race doctor of the GP Paredes Rota dos Móveis. Even when the product was confiscated by the police, it had the prescription right next to it.
In João Cabreira's case, the story is simply surreal...
Oh, and I suggest you go read (if you haven't done that already) what the Veloluso guy had to say about this. Really interesting stuff...

Hopefully none is out there with three missed out of competition controls this season? Then they should be sanctioned.
I'm sure though, if João Cabreira takes the case through the legal system, he'll win. Only three missed controls within 18 month calls for a sanction. |

I've read it pedro, and it's obvious.
brun, it's not about that. It's about making Benfica win everything. Every year, every sport, they make up something so that Benfica will win.
Surely you know about so many portuguese clubs (like Porto) being investigated for corruption. Guess what......THERE'S NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING....that's the reason why Porto were cleared, along with others.
Here in cycling it's the same thing. There's no doubt in my mind LA MSS are not a clean team, but the fact of the matter is....the whole police raid months ago was done to get them out of the Volta a Portugal so that Benfica could win it.
And since NOTHING was found in those raids (which they refuse to admit), they had to resort to this to shove attention away from the fact.
It happens every year in most sports over here, always because of Benfica. And one my bigger joys in life is that despite that, Benfica's sports teams always fuck it up some way or another and never win.
I wonder what it'll be next year. Maybe they'll go back to suddenly suspending Porto's key players 2 days before Porto-Benfica games for small fouls they committed 10 months earlier, like they did in the Mourinho days. |
