Great game, well played Croatia. They really deserved it.
As for the England, the reasons for reaching the semis was by knocking out some mid tier teams and not for their strong football quality. However, their squad will probably have a decent cohesion and England will be a top tier team for the WC in 2022 when most of their youngsters will be more mature in their play style.
Now the question is, will Croatia go for it through the end? 
This will be a rematch for the semi final from '98  fun game to watch, although I think France will have the 1st chance. |

Well played Croatia. I more surprised by the fact that they seemed the fitter side at the end rather than their performance. I was expecting them to tire after 2 penalty shootouts in a row.
As for England, we were simply not good enough. No creativity in midfield. We were too reliant on set pieces.
While I don't want to criticise Southgate I think he did show a bit of tactical incompetence last night. Why didn't he change things earlier? Young and Trippier were struggling on the wings. Swap them for fresh legs and take off Walker for Dier earlier to give an extra body in midfield. Go to back four to nullify Croatia on the wings.
Instead he just straight swapped Stirling for Rashford after we concede and nothing changed tactically.
At least it's a young squad so we can have some hope that we might do something in the next few tournaments. Everyone playing last night should still be around in 2 years and even at the next World Cup.
Oh well. We'll have to wait a bit longer for football to come home Guess I'll cancel my waistcoat order now.

Very much agree with deek. The free kick was an absolute dive. That penalty was never a penalty. This ref is a joke.

First goal was offside as well.
Second goal, well. You can give a penalty, you can also not give a penalty. But it's not a clear and obvious error, so the VAR should never intervene.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
