Of course it's perfect when everybody except your own sprinter is held up by a crash. |

Hey I didn't make the rules
But I was talking about before, too. Martin and Kwiatek taking the upper hand quite nicely. |

Is he talking about the final climb? If one was to include the preceding kilometers of the Lanciano, wouldn't both W/Kg and VAM be lower, since Contador was not on the attack all the time?
I actually expected the numbers to be higher. Contador looked mighty impressive yesterday. |

It depends on whether his power on the part before he attacked was superior or inferior to his average from his attack onwards. Could be both ways.
I'm not sure how far from the last 5 km (those vetoo measured) Contador attacked, but what Grappe points to is that a given wattage has to be related to an effort duration to be properly asserted. |

Cav can't win green at the Tour, can he?

Probably not. Not dominant enough in the pure flat anymore and Sagan will obtain points as soon as the road rises. I'd be surprised if Sagan didn't win green this year

Is there anyone who can keep Sagan away the next years? When it continues this way I see him breaking Zabel's record with most green jerseys in the TDF ever.

This could definitely happen.
However, I don't see him dominating cycling in any way.
He has a grand future ahead of him, certainly, but there is a lot of talent out there and it is very unlikely we'll see a single man dominate cycling any time soon
But for the Green Jersey, yeah |

Yeah, I was mainly talking about the green jersey. I don't see him dominating cycling.

I think Degenkolb has rather good changes in matching him in versatility in a few years but the team would have to ride for him, and that's not likely when they support Kittel.
Also, the ASO changes the rulebook every few years. If they change the intermediates again he might end up missing out on enough so guys like Kittel gain an advantage over him.
But hey, maybe Rick Zabel will be the guy defending his dad's record eventually? Imagine that.

Versatility... being good at everything and excellent at nothing. Sagan has guys able to beat him in almost any aspect of cycling. Though he's of course very good at almost everything, we've seen riders like him recently (Boonen or Cancellara in a way, EBH, supposed to the next big thing), then Sagan who looked set for an arm long palmares. And what's happened in Strade Bianche ? Kwiatek got rid of Sagan, beating him in everything. It's just one race of course, and Sagan will most likely win plenty more, but sometimes thing change fast, and another rider with the same profile but just a wee bit stronger at everything will outshine the first rider.
Even if Kwiatowski became the next cannibal for the next couple of year, a neo or second year pro named x or y could beat him soon after that.

What, Kwiatkowski? We're past him. Slagter is the next big thing.
I do agree with you fully though. Things change awfully fast in cycling in the last couple of years. Basically since Armstrong retired there's been lots of change and turmoil. Quick starts, unfulfilled potential and promises. Lots of Hype. Coming and going and ultimately a fair share of disappointment. This speaks for the sport honestly. It's tough to predict the future (yes, even with Team Sky looming on the horizon)

Shame the whole field got held up and granted it would've been nice for a bit more competition in the last 500m but OPQS clearly did their homework and executed well - namely leading into the last two right handers.

Slagter you say? That is so 2013. Moreno Hofland is the new wonderboy
