I don't see Evans doing very well in GTs anymore. A podium will be very very tough, like impossible with Quintana, Rodriguez & Porte, Evans won't come close to them I think

Just watched a re-run of stage 3 and i have to say that it is nice to see Cadel put in such a Great effort
He was really strong. I was so amazed at how strong Cadel was. He really blew the pack away. Porte and Gerrans had no chance to keep up with him!!
He is riding the Giro this year, so if he turns up in this form then he will have a good chance at the Overall win
against Quintana for example? Not in thousand lives...
You never know
He can do it. Quintana may be younger and a great climber. But Cadel has the experience and the tactics. Cadel can win it. He can win it in a great fashion too
He won't win the Giro, a top 10 would be a good effort to be straight up. He is fit and ready for this which is understandable being this will most likely be his last season so winning here would have been a aim. He could do well in some of the 1 week races this year but he will fade in the Giro, he hasn't put in a good TT for a while now and will get dropped in the Mountains. Top 10 yes but win no

A Top ten would still be a good performance for him |

bullshit...Most of you understimate Evans really bad...He deserves much more respect..
Btw he must be inspired by Horner that winning is still possible.. |

Let's not be comparing Evans to Horner - people might actually want to sign Cadel after he's won something |

This is true.
I was surprised at Evans actually. Didn't expect him to do this. Well, at least Porte won't win it seems. |

Did you watch the Giro last year? The shortened and cancelled stages were the only thing that saved him. He faded terribly as the race wore on. Does he deserve respect? Sure. Does that respect mean that he is going to win something? Hell no.

Yeah I did...Well but you forgot to mention that he came here to train for TDF as still the main objective of his 2013 season...He missed some racing km in that time...And his preparation for Giro wasnt as good as should be (reputedly only 6 weeks). BMC management suddenly decide to change his schedule in order to gain form...They admitted that there is no guarantee that it will be working...Well you may say that this are only excuses but I would not see it in this way...I think cadel is able to admitt that he is not anymore able to achieve any success as GC contender...I still think he can win Giro even though he will have to beat guys like Purito and Porte...

And Quintana... There are going to be 4 or 5 guys there who are going to beat him pretty much ever time.

It has nothing to do with respect, it has to do with with form and his ageing body. Yes he 3rd at the Giro but he was not close to catching Nibali and the others were coming at him fast, it was a great effort to finish where he did and to put himself into a position to get there but look at the rest of his season, started okay in a rubbish race in Oman but was crushed when it mattered. His tour was woeful. You say it's only Purito and Porte but what about Quintana? Uran? Krueziger? I wish him
luck but if he pulled out a stage win id e surprised and as stated a top 10 would be a win in my eyes. It was a stage win in the TDU do I don't see why people are getting carried away

Everyone gets carried away when the commentators compare Corkscrew Hill to the TDF. I can't draw up what stuff they might make up when it gets to Willunga.

Early break of 10 got away, OGE have brought it back, and Gerro won the first sprint, with Goss second, and Hass third. Gerro now 9 seconds away from Ochre. |

Fair while. Just past the first sprint. 110km to go, there or thereabouts.
Oliver Kaisen has retired.

Still a long ways to go but this from Cyclingnews:
"As a sign of the winds today, the KOM arch has been taken down so as to not impact on the riders and for the safety of the crowds"
If Malkael's preview is correct I hope for some intense echelons

That could certainly cause a few issues amongst the peloton and gives the break a better chance, I believe.
