sutty68: It sure was
duxili: I was definitely surprised that the others couldn't follow Ian.
Ian Butler: That is the goal
Had trouble loading stage 3, so I was forced to quick-sim it. I'll post the results now.
EDIT: Decided to quick-sim the flat stage 4, and will add results soon.

Lead looks solid after only these stages. Good instinct to get some time into the other favourites on stage 2.

This is the queen stage of the race, featuring 9 categorized climbs and a summit finish. The goal is defense of my lead.
The Race
The day's six man break included: Serpa of Lampre, Zandio of Oakley, Koing of NetApp, Sorensen of Saxo Bank, Di Marchi of Cannondale, and Moreno of Movistar.
With 50 km still to ride, Nibali opens up the attacks with a surprising move. However, the move was unsuccessful, and Italian was brought back into the bunch.
At the foot of the final climb, the break was been reduced to Koing, Sorensen, and Moreno at the front. The trio have 1 30 on the peloton.
Five km later, a group of four has gone to the fore of the race. It is Nibali, Quintana, Betancur, and of course me leading at the front.
With 5 km to go, Betancur is the only one who can follow my pace at the front. It is 1 minute back to the others.
The Colombian followed for 4.5 km, but he cracked in the final 500 meters, and I start to pull away.
After 8 km on the front; I take a beautiful win and increase my GC lead! Betancur takes second place 15 seconds back. Quintana is third 1 39 back.

sutty68: Ask, and you shall receive
Ian Butler: Neither did I
baia: I too was surprised, he does have form of 2 and more race days than Nibali and Quintana. The others also used more energy on the earlier climbs.
Shonak: There is another hilly stage
Playing stage 6 as we speak.

This is the final day that could have any impact on the GC. I have a little over 1 15, and I want that gap to remain heading into tomorrow's flat stage.
The Race
The day's break consisted of: Sorensen of Saxo Bank, De Marchi of Cannondale, Voigt of Radioshack, Fredrigo of FDJ, Reda of Androni, and Knees of NetApp.
We jump to 5 km to go on the big HC climb. Nibali accelerates and quickly riders away with Betancur. I am feeling the effects of yesterday, and I'm unable to follow.
I was able to catch up in the flat section in between the climbs, and the group was: me, Koing, Nibali, and Betancur. 5 minutes up the road was the break.
I refused to work, as I had two teammates in the group behind. The group of 9 behind caught us, and now Nibali had lost his provisional podium place. With 40 km to go, the group of 13 is 4 45 behind the break.
As soon as the group hit the last hill, Nibali accelerated, and for the second time today; the Italian was riding away from me.
Betancur soon also rode away from me for the second time in the stage. I was really feeling the effects of my great ride yesterday.
At the summit of the climb, Betancur leads me by 20 seconds. My lead is down to 1 minute on the road. Ahead, Sorensen is now the lone leader 2 30 ahead of Nibali.
It took a lot of work, and I made back up to Betancur, barely. I was completely spent. As we go under the 5 km to go banner. Sorenson's lead is at 1 15, and he the stage win should go to him.
The Dane was able to hold on, and take a beautiful win! He is also rewarded with the KOM jersey for his efforts. Betancur takes second around a minute back, and I finish in the same time as the Colombian.
