As before, I see your points, but you seem to be forgetting some of the basics if being GM.
1) Keep your players happy. If a player made a mistake and fixing it doesn't hurt anyone or breaks rules, do it. If I would've asked Cameron Meyer for real, you could say no based on the rules. If I would've asked for one of my other picks, I would've hurt other players, and you should have said no again. Leigh Howard would've been a solution to keep everyone happy.
2) Ask for other opinions. A few people already gave examples of how this could've been solved differently. You have for example Ian Butler available who helped you with the teams before. As a neutral 3rd party, ask his opinion in an unsolvable conflict (if he wants to be involved ofc). Or ask the opinion of other players not directly involved.

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

so I can change the riders I want even after the draft has been announced stating that TMM gave me the wrong rider?
seems legit

Going over this i see where some confusion might be...
Let me make clear, Ollfardh has not made any mistakes.
All that has happened is that he omitted an initial/first name. This lead to me thinking he meant one rider, when ollfardh meant another.
If he had made a mistake, like having first choice as an ineligible rider, then i could go to the next available choice.
However, without a mistake, i am not able to, fairly or justly, change to outcome of Round 4.
Ollfardh made an omission, not a mistake...
I hope this clarification can help

Ollfardh: Everyone makes mistakes. You made the mistake of not ensuring your list was without errors. Take it like a man and get over it. It's not like you wanted the Belgian Gilbert and got the Canadian one in stead...
Hell, I've sent in at least one list I regretted a few things in afterwards, but figures that since it was my mistake it was not fair of me to put even more work in TMM to correct my errors. I imagine Manx has plenty to do at the moment handling the draft and setting things up.
It is not a question of anyone being against you, but if Manx opened of grey zones in the rule this could turn in to pure Armageddon in people wanting special treatment. When a situation is actually covered by the rules, we have to play by the book - otherwise things will get messy...
And one last thing:

I also agree with TMM, since Ollfardh made the mistake himself, but technically if the game starts at 1 January 2012, Cameron Meyer is 23, as his birthday is 11 January . But I don't know if the round was under-23 or 23 and under. |

@mvhoogdalem
Actually, IMO, you've got a good point. It was 23 and under
This game is played in PCM, and Cameron is 23 in PCM.
I used PCM itself to check the ages of the players. I think Cameron might even be acceptable as draft pick.
But that's all up to TMM of course

About grey zones...

Draft Rules
Before each round the managers will PM me a list of their picks for that round, in priority order. This PM must be titled UCPCL Draft Round x (where x is the round number). If it is not titled this then i wont read it, and will bug you until its sent properly. This is just to make it easier for me to organize.
This is very clear on the game rules, and if new lists are accepted because the first ones had mistakes on the title or on the riders selected why not accepting that Ollfardh didn't want Travis Meyer on the first place, as he immediately stated, and the guy he actually wanted, Cameron Meyer, was an invalid choice, and so going to his 2nd available choice (that he sent on his list previously to the draft results)?
If someone had chosen "Schleck" on the first draft would you assume that it was Andy, Frank, would you ask that guy which one was it or would you consider it invalid and he would lose his pick? I think that would ask him which was it like happened with some examples about invalid initial lists.
Maybe adding to the rules that "you must mention the first and last name of the rider you chose" would avoid all of this... |

I couldn't agree more the age limit doesn't matter as the rider was not specified, however I think give him howard who is worse then both meyeri belive and get on with it |

Ok, i'm going to go and re-do all the draft rules...
Ollfardh... can't believe i miscalculated Camerons age (admittedly by only 11 days)
yet, i can't just make the swap straight up, i need to think, and check the rules
Kimi... If the first list is incorrectly titled, they are entitled to send a new one, i dont open the first one. I do not allow changes if i point them out, unless they are seriously major mistakes that cause a lot of problems (eg. FroomeDogg).
Cameron Meyer was not his first choice, Meyer was.
Everyone that sent in Schleck put either a full first name or an initial. In fact most people are doing that anyway. I assumed that was common sense, and didn't need a specific rule.
But as i'm re-doing the rules that will be changed

So if I understand correctly: Ollfardh might get Cameron now?

Well I wouldn't have a problem with that, since both TMM (rider age) and Ollfardh (first name) were wrong in this case. But mistakes are there to be learned from. And they lead to better rules

Might get Cameron, might being the key word.
I made a mistake in rider age, but he has still failed to specify which Meyer.
Who thought a draft could cause such drama!

yeeesss
Seriously, let's learn from this now and keep going. Everybody is important and we need the 28, which is a very good number for this kind of game. |
