Tirreno - Adriatico

the Tirreno of this year starts with a normal flat stage meaning that Cavendish, Petacchi and Farrar are the big favorites. the full start list
Spoiler

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0190_zps323eff16.jpg

the break was quickly formed and consisted of Reda (SBS), Konovalovas (MOV), Willems (OLO), Selvaggi (VCD), Burghardt (SKY) and Minard (ALM) with an max gap of 6 minutes

with only 47,8 km to go Johan Van Summeren (GRM) try's to break the gap, the peleton seems contend to let the gap happen. the gap with the break is now reduced to 2 minutes

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0191_zpsa0662c57.jpg
Van Summeren breaking away with the peleton lead by Liquigas and Leopard

however even with Van Summeren the break stand no chance against the peleton and was overtaken with 28 km to go

there where no significant trains so it ended to be an open sprint

Bennati takes some meters against the peleton

Gilbert comes around

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0194_zps314e5fbb.jpg

Is Goss fast enough to beat Gilbert?

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0195_zps248d4184.jpg

No he isn't, Gilbert wins the first stage of the Tirreno, with Goss taking 2nd, Bennati 3rd, Petacchi 4th, Farrar 5th, Dean 6th, Tjallingii 7th, Rojas 8th

Tirreno-Adriatico Stage 2

another stage for the sprinters

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0197_zpsd5fa7d17.jpg

the breakaway was formed after 33 km and consisted of M.Wilson (GRM), I.Konovalovas (MOV), M.Tjallingii (RAB), L.Mondory, D.Champion (ALM), Castroviejo (EUS), N.Terpstra (VCD), Muravyev (RSH), Van de Walle (OLO)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0198_zpsaba1f922.jpg

the mountain in the middle of the stage did little to break the sprinters in the group, the only decent sprinters that were dropped are A.Rasmussen (HTC) and F.Chicchi (LAM)

with less than 8 km to the line, the break has lead of 1'33" and not trusting his sprint Jürgen Van de Walle tries to get away and is followed by Konovalovas and Champion

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0199_zps6f22e974.jpg

The Peleton catches the riders that couldn't follow the attackers while Konovalovas is startings his Sprint

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0200_zps7e040a66.jpg

Van de Walle doesn't come any closer

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/PCM0201_zpsf479063c.jpg

Out of nowhere Gilbert comes rushing up
