Stage 1

A flat stage. Rojas is going for the win. The only thing that can stop him is fitness.

The Race

Morton was on the attack with Oliviera and Proni.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU1.png

Morton will wear the Mountains jersey tomorrow.

O’grady came 2nd and 3rd in both sprints.
With 83km to go the break has 6.38 on the peloton.

The leadout was Rojas Gil-Hunter-Von Hoff-Fernandez-Millar

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU2.png

O’grady attacked out of the leading group with 12km to go.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU3.png

With 3km to go the team was stuck in the peloton. But they weren’t too far back.

And Sagan takes it. Great win by the Slovakian. 2nd went to Ventoso and 3rd to Appollonio. Rojas Gil got 7th place.

Well the team tried their best today, and we do have the mountains jersey with Morton. Hopefully tomorrow we can do more with the sprint but we had 2 riders in the top 10 so we can’t complain.

Thanks Sutty. Only 108 riders in the race. Damn Database

Stage 2

Another flat stage, let’s hope the sprint works out better.

The Race

O’grady went on the attack as soon as the flag went down.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU1-1.png

O’grady won the first sprint point and is provisionally 1 second behind Sagan on GC.

Morton attacked on the small hill about 20km from the Mountain sprint.
He wants to keep his jersey.

Morton just missed out making it to the leading group. O’grady will have to try to take the points to keep it in the team.

And O’grady does it. He takes the mountain points.

O’grady won the final Intermediate sprint as well. The break has 2.40 with 48km.

Millar attacked with 26km to go.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU2-1.png

With 12km to go it was Millar, Stannard and Engoulvent in the lead. They had 36 seconds to the other breakaway guys and 51 seconds to the peloton.

With 4.5km to go the leading 2 (Millar and Stannard) had 15 seconds.

Millar was caught with 1km to go.

Oss takes the win ahead of Sagan and our very own Fernandez.

Today was good for O’grady and Fernandez. O’grady carrying 2 jerseys and Fernandez a fantastic 3rd place for the team. Tomorrow it is up to me and Morton. Let’s see what we can do.

Stage 4

Back to the flat, let’s see what JJ can get the win he wants.

The Race

We tried to get the first sprint with Morton but we couldn’t do it. So with 1 sprint to go we were on the front.

For the 2nd IS we were doing a full on leadout minus our 2 main sprinters.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU1-2.png

Von Hoff was the leadout for Morton and Von Hoff takes out the sprint with Morton getting 4 seconds back on the leader

With 17km to go the break had 1.06.

There was a massive crash in the peloton with 13km to go. The only big rider involved was Hatarovich.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU2-2.png

With 6km to go I was the 3rd last leadout man for Rojas Gil. I was right near the front with the sprinters on my wheel.

With 2km to go Von Hoff was doing the final leadout.

With 1km to go it was between Rojas Gil and Sagan.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU3-2.png

But Sagan was too strong and took the win by a wheel.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU4-1.png

Rojas Gil takes 2nd and Bennati 3rd.

Nice sprint from Rojas Wink

Stage 5

Willunga Hill twice today, going to be an interesting stage.

The Race

Morton tried for the first sprint point but couldn’t get there. Only 1 more to go.

And Morton wins the 2nd IS. Greipel was coming but just missed it. Fernandez takes 3rd.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU1-3.png

Von Hoff and Hunter were leading the peloton up the first climb.

Going over the top the lone breakaway rider (Musial of IAM) had just over 2 minutes gap.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU2-3.png

With 22km to go Musial had 1.15 on the peloton still being led by Hunter and Von Hoff.

O’grady attacked on the downhill with 9km to go.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU3-3.png

He goes straight past the IAM rider and has 1.03 on the peloton.

And O’grady takes the win! What a win in his home country.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU4-2.png

2nd goes to Musial who stayed away from the peloton.

And again 1st and 2nd in the peloton was Sagan (1st) and Rojas Gil (2nd).

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU5.png

I expect a rivalry starting between the 2.

Well what a win. O’grady was just fantastic. Rojas Gil did great as well. Even though he didn’t win the sprint home in the peloton he thanked me for the leadout. Morton has to get 1 second to win the race overall. That is our only goal tomorrow.

A Great win from O'Grady Smile

And Morton needing to find a couple of seconds on the final stage for the Overall win Wink

Stage 6

A pan flat stage with a tiny hill every now and then. Will Morton be able to win overall?

The Race

With 5km to go to the first sprint Millar and Fernandez were chasing hard!

Steegmans and Greipel fought out the win but guess who got 3rd. That’s right Lachlan Morton. That should put him equal with Hondo now.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU1-4.png

I decided to help Fernandez and Millar with the pace making. We need another time bonus to get into the lead with Morton.

With 6km to go till the sprint Stannard and 2 other riders went off the
front. I was going extremely hard on the front.

Morton missed out on those sprint points.

I decided to do something today and attacked with Jimmy Engoulvent.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU2-4.png

With 12km to go the leading rider still had just under 1 minute on the peloton. This is going to be a fast and close finish.

With 3km to go the rider in front had 30 seconds.

He is caught with 2km to go.

Greipel is leading going into 1km to go.

And he takes it. Sagan was coming fast but Greipel holds him off.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/TDU3-4.png

Rojas Gil could only manage 7th place.

Youth

Well we got it down to 0 seconds but no further. Morton tried everything but couldn’t do it. We did however get a stage win and a lot of top 10. We also won the Youth Classification (Morton) and the Team’s Classification. So overall a successful tour. I have a month or 2 off now so Seeya at my next race.

Morton was very, very close...

What's up with the 13garmin/13cannondale/13... before every team name?
That's supposed to be the jersey abbreviation, not the team one Pfft

A second placed finish for Morton on the GC is a creditable result Smile

I named then wrong Jesleyh. I am gonna change it when I get a chance but I don't want to play with the db cause I might break it again.

And thanks Sutty

Well, if you save the edited career on an other name, then nothing can happen I guess Wink

Strade Bianchi

My 2nd race of the season is the small and rather new Strade Bianchi. The race route is hilly with 1 very steep hill which is usually where the race is won or lost.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/StageProfile-1.jpg

The race will be won by someone who has form and a good hill climber. I hope to win but all I am expecting is a top 5.

The Squad

Leader-Ryder Hesjedal
Main Helpers-Daniel Martin & David Millar
Team Mates-Michael Kreder, Ramunas Navardauskas, Lachlan Morton
Breakaway-Rohan Dennis & Jack Bauer

We;; thats everything. The start list and the race will be up soonish.

Strade Bianchi

Start List

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/StartList-1.png

A hilly stage for this year’s Strade Bianchi. An interesting finish is expected.

The Race

Nevardauskas decided he wanted to go in the break so he followed a rider from Netapp.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/SB1-1.png

On the first gravel section the leading group of 12 riders had 1.06 on the peloton. Nevardauskas was in this group.

It started raining with 100km still to race.

Kreder attacked with 80km to go.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/SB2-1.png

Mazzanti was the first favourite to attack with 43km to go.

I attacked and got straight up to the favourites group.

When my group reached the lead group Nevardauskas kept working and Kreder protected me. There was still 25km to go.

With 11km to go there was only 1 rider ahead of my group. That was
Mazzanti.

i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u504/jakstar22/SB3-1.png

With 2.7km to go it was all back together. I was on Gasporotto’s wheel.

I couldn’t contest the sprint because of poor fitness. Mazzanti takes a fantastic win. I finish in 12th place which is still better than I thought I
would get with this fitness (59 pts).

Well I did a lot better then what I thought I would. I came 12th but was in the same group as all the top runners. If Dan Martin was with me I think he could’ve contested for the win. Anyway tomorrow I start Paris-Nice. It should be interesting with my form but by the first hill stage I hope to have better form.
