I'm impressed by Rui Costa's performance, he was the fighter of the whole bunch. It's a shame he got boxed in, because he had a good position at the climb, despite the fact he had attacked several times before. It would be interesting to see, as he's decent at the sprint. He could have saved some strenght instead of giving it all out, but it's a lesson for the future.
It goes to show that him, Rodrigues and Machado are the upcoming portuguese stars and that cycling should be taken more into account, instead of just football.
Respect goes to the Slovakian kid, clearly the strongest at the sprint. |

well, I'm looking forward to tomorrow now.
looking at the list of favorites, I'm hoping Schumacher wins. it's far from the most likely, but I'd like that. not that I'd want to see him win. it's just that the other alternatives are far worse

top favourites for tomorrow would be the sprinters again I think... with freire a absolute top favourite... he'll have a train with valverde and sanchez in front of him what a luxury

if you're referring to today's race, it wasn't won by a sprinter. the only sprinters who have a chance for tomorrow are Freire and Bettini. Valverde is another option, but he'll be working for Freire, so...
spain will try to control the race, Italy will play their usual cards, meaning they'll keep attacking one at a time to see if one succeeds. if not, there's Bettini.
other than that, it's random people attacking, like Schumacher and Dekker.

Boasson Hagen were in a very good position, then he was blocked!
Damnit. No new chance for him now.
just saw the replay again. he was in third wheel BEFORE the climb. when the climb started he was way back.
Tom Leezer 4th where'd he come from?? Leezer is the Dutch sprinter, he was supposed to stay in the pack, too bad Sulzberger touched him, that caused the whole crash.
Ah well, very good race by Boom and Mollema, too bad the peloton kept coming back |
