Still well done by Westra...
He gave Wiggins a hell of a lot more competition than the arrogant British credited him for |

Westra "I was never stronger than this week. Wiggins was stronger, nothing I can do about it" |

Really? Racing was pretty average here, imo.

Westra says he was never as strong as this week and Wiggins was just too strong.

Westra surprisingly strong. Expected him to put in a good ride here after Mende, but that was very good by him - but Wiggins isnt one of the top time triallists in the world for nothing. A remarkable time he's had in the last 12 months - winning the Dauphine, 3rd in the Vuelta, and now winning Paris-Nice.

The first part, yes, but the last 4 stages were (in my opinion) exciting and beautiful to see!

I think the ITT helm and the Q-rings made the difference SN.
Westra started with normal helmet... and no bike adjustment |

Sky always were about the marginal gains!
Just thinking back to last week, did Westra ride in the rain like Wiggins? I was wondering after Westra finished today, whether Wiggins could blame the rain there if he was more than 6 seconds down today

Well, there was the echelons in stage 2, then sprint, sprint, Mende which was two minutes at most of racing, the Luisle-Voigt stage which was decent and yesterday's non-event, plus two ITTs. Maybe we just have a different standard for what's exciting.

Or I shouldn't watch only the last 5 km of a cycling race.

Frankly, it's hard to say. The helmet is heavier but has a better aero-efficiency.
As for the Q rings, I'm still unsure. I've used some ages ago (not as Q'ed as Wiggins, but still) and didn't really feel the difference, and the fact that it's always been marginal makes me think there's not that much of a difference whatsoever.
When Westra won his stage, he raised his arm and uplifted his zipper to show his sponsor better, which probably cost him 3 or 4". With those he might have started last today, and adapt his effort to the intermediate gaps.

Westra started 10 minutes before Wiggins in the streaming rain.. So absolutely no advantage there... Westra is also not as good in corners as Wiggins. So he lost a lot more in the prologue |

Great Paris - Nice, with an exciting battle between favourite Wiggins and surprise Westra.
Please, give us more from these races the following year!!

It is a pity Westra couldn't pull it off, he would have been a great winner! Ah well, he did well out of this race.
