Well its Bastille Day, and one of the most aggressive Frenchmen in the race takes the Souvenir Jacques Goddet over the top of the Tourmalet. (Of course, I wish G had taken it )
The King of the Mountains jersey looks almost certain to go to the stage winner today. I guess Uran is favourite to take over the White Jersey now - assuming the GC guys eventually catch up with G and Roy.
And Gilbert hung in there over the top

Just shows how poor Tony has been up the tourmalet, outclimbed by hagen (no offence)
Always thouht Hagen was better climber than Tony. Showed his mountain talent last month.
you do not make final conclusions about a rider with one month..
Agreed. But he showed his talent in mountains before, finishing 2nd in Oman behind Gesink, pre season but still he is good climber.

Jeremy Roy - the best all-rounder in peleton.
Guy is first at Tourmalet, wins northern classic Tro-Bro Leon, finishes 16th in Dauphine ITT, wins hilly stage in Paris-Nice.

Gesink maybe focus on a stage in the alps now. Or pull out and go for the Vuelta.
As I thought yesterday in the interview he didn't sound positive and confident. Back pain is still troubling him when it goes uphill. |

Someone said something about Taaramäe and stomach problems two days ago. I'll be impressed if he can hang on to white.
And Roy/Thomas looks better and better, 3,30 will probably be enough, but it all depends on the favourites. |

Have to disagree Thomas
10th Ronde. 5th on sprint stage this TdF and6th on hilly finish first stage and great leadout. Very good time trialer. 23rd Overall Dauphine last year. Good sprint

On that logic.
Geraint Thomas. 2nd at Tourmalet, 10th in Ronde van Vlaanderen,7th in Dauphine ITT, finished in the Top 30 of every stage of the TDF so far, except the stage where he waited for Wiggins.
Edit: Heheh, high five Alakagom
And of course, the real is answer is probably Gilbert

Did you see him much in last week's bunch sprints ?
Actually he's an all rounder, doesn't really have a forte (although he's decently fast), but doesn't have particular weakness either.
And what has he managed ? Being slightly better than top climber Gerraint Thomas over the Tourmalet ? Wow. |
