Really enjoyed the chance to watch the cycling this weekend.
Glossglockner was like an Etna repeat, but the other two stages were pretty spectacular.
The Zoncalon stage was a bit of a headache with the two climb removals, but then we got onto the Zoncalon and it still was an amazing ride. We had two things blowing up Brambilla and a motorbike!
Loved the thrilling wins for the Euskatel riders, Anton and Nieve adding Giro wins to last years Vuelta stage wins. I wonder where these two will finish on GC.
Contador is pretty peerless in this years Giro, we are seeing that last years Vuelta competitors Purito, Anton and Nibali are not really in Contadors class. I am not a fan really of Contador riding here, if that ruling goes against him in June....
Anyway like a few others I am actually more focussed on the battle for second, Scarponi struck a blow today... but that one is certainly not over. Finestre will be the decider. I fancy plenty of breakaways in the meantime.
Edit: Meant to say, todays stage was an absolute classic.

Scary fact is that Contador has improved as climber.
I'm inclined to agree, but I think the only judgement on that can be given when he races Andy

He suffered a lot whilst climbing too. I guess he was clean, wasn't he ? |

I never wrote that Nibali was/are clean. He only makes it looks harder than Contador.

Fantastic, Hardknott Pass at the end of the Fred Whitton Challenge. I was one of the many pushing my bike up the 30% gradients. That is the Zoncolan of the Lake District - one hell of a tough climb! |

Why do we "love" Nibali?
He haven't tested positive as far as I know. It loooks like he suffers when he climbs. He takes his own pace, which is the best way of climbing when you're tired.
You didn't watch Zoncolan stage, did you ?
Just 500 meters from the finish line, there's a camera view, in which you can see Contador suffering like hell ...
Contador is a spanish climber, therefore, he prefers little attacks from time to time, and not climbing with a steady pace
If you dislike it, then I can do nothing about it

They aren't d-bags to me. I mean, Mr. Clembuterol attacked the yellow jersey when he had mechanical problems a year ago...
A year ago, everyone already hated Contador, and you found yourself the perfect reason to continue hating him ...
Andy Schleck is a classy rider, but nobody knows if he's doped or not, and he's not really known as the most sympathetic guy in the peloton ...
And yet, you won't find lots of people disliking him
You can hate Contador if he's doped, but the problem is that maybe everyone is So, it's just because he's winning and dominating that you dislike him
As for Scarponi, Nibali, you can't tell me they're clean, and Contador is not, that'd be too easy
I'm even suspicious about Gadret, as AG2R isn't the cleanest of french team (remember Valjavec)
I'm not saying that Contador is clean, I just don't understand why you're hating him, like he was the devil personified ...

Hey, it seems I'm not the one using the most smileys
Frankly, I haven't understood most of the complaints the past two days. As Juan and someone else said - you can dislike Contador for being a doper, and you can say that he shouldn't be here. But disliking him due to his riding and his superiority over the other riders is weird.
Yes, it's boring that he's so dominating - it reminds me of the Armstrong era - but you can hardly blame him for that. |

At least Contador attacks every stage, he is an aggresive rider.
I don't like Nibali's style of riding at all. He attacked at one descent in the entire Giro. And once at the Etna at 1km to go. That's it.
that's what I call boring... evne Scarponi tried much more and he gest no kudos here at all. While Scarponi tried to react every time Contador attacks and tried attacking himself a couple of times.
Nibali rides the same style as Leipheimer for crying out loud.

My main problem with Contador is that he wins too easily, it's the same as my problem with Cav, Gilbert and Cance.
I rationalise my annoyance at them with other arguments, but essentially, it's boring if someone is so much better, hence I want them to go away.
That's probably why I like all the good descenders, they aren't as gifted as the best climbers, so they counter by taking their life into their own hands and doing all they can to keep up.
Also, Nibali attacked 50km out yesterday in a desperate attempt to make up the three minutes on Contador, that's pretty aggressive in my book.

You can't really compare Contador and Armstrong. Armstrong crushed the opposition in all of his TdF bar 2003. I mean, in 2005 he put more than 4 min on Basso, who the next year won the Giro by c. 10 min. That to not to mention the US Postal train climbing up the mountains at 56565 km/h with people who weren't even climbers. That hasn't practically been seen in the Contador era, except in the inglorious 2009's TdF.
Granted, when someone clearly dominates, fun decreases. And Contador is definitely no Voeckler or Vinokourov. But he isn't a boring rider either. |

Taking a few corners a bit better is not really attacking, it costs a lot less energy than attacking uphill
Scarponi, Rujano even Gadret and Dupont tried much more than Nibali this Giro. |
