For me it is battle for 1st place, i am not interested how much Contador crush the others with his super-meat-stuff (as he will have the win removed hopefuly),for me the winner is first behind him
Having him there just makes me almost un-interested in the race, because he is already dominating.
That is right,i anot happy to see him destroying everyone, but this cant make the Giro less exciting for me.I gnore him and concentrate on the battle for remaining podium places...ehm,i meant on Kreuzigeras well as other great battles.
Wouter made my Giro sad,not Clenbuntador...

The way contador rides changes how others will ride. Therefor second place with contador in the race isnt the same as 1st without contador there.
It will be interesting to see who comes in second though as that might be the winner if contador finally gets caught for doping. |

Great ride by Conti. I am wondering if he is attacking because of the possible weakness of the Saxo team and feels a bit unsure if most riders of Saxo will support him in the upcoming weeks. Didn't see them at all yesterday!
Kreuziger also showed some great strength. Surely will get a stage win somewhere! |

Nibali wasn't weak, he was the only one putting in attacks towards the finish. I still bet he will be the only one to contest with Conta, especially with TT, Rujano will be crushed in the TT.
Menchov is done...dusted...good bye
I am really hoping the best for Garmin and Le Mevel! I think a top 5 could be possible. |

Actually I think that Kreuziger could make his first podium in a GT. He looked quite strong and has definitely a stronger team behind him than other contenders.
Nibali`s problem was that he had no helper left quite early. Especially Szmyd seems to be out of shape. He was very important and impressive last year. |

Yeah, Liquigas have been the best GT team for the past two years, so leaving Nibali alone now is a real downer, although I guess Basso's withdrawal didn't help things

I don't think Rujano will be crushed in the ITT. He's a reasonable TTer for his characteristics. He can lose a decent amount of time (2 min or so) to Contador, but then again Contador is out of reach, and will confortably beat Kreuziger, which is the best TTer of the competition. I'm pretty sure Rujano won't get smoked a la J.RodrÃguez. |

No matter what I can't help thinking he's wasted too much energy trying to achieve top 10 in stages during the first week. He might miss it in the last days of the Giro. |

Yes, starting to look beyond reasonable, the year where he quit a french team... . Guess I understand why some french cyclists say they want to try a foreign team to be stronger.
Team Europcar !!

Garmin have a tradition of getting good GC results with average riders.
Also Le Mevel did get a top ten in the Tour a couple of years ago.

I know that about his top 10, and he's a huge talent no matter what. But as for his top 10, he won a massive amount of time thanks to a big break, he didn't achieve it by hanging to the favourites group in every single mountain stages. |

But if I remember well, the mountain stage following the one where he was in the breakaway he managed to finish in the first 15 riders or so by hanging with the favourites...

For his top ten in the Dauphine did he get a break as well?
Also, Etna is a far cry from the big mountains, and Suitsov, Gadret, Dupont and Kiryenka were also up there.
I'm not calling anything until there are some big climbs.

I think it's a bit soon to say anything about Le Mével's performance. We have had only 1 mountain stage, which was hardly the hardest. He was up there with Dupont, for fuck's sake.
We'll see what he can do in the Großglockner. And whatever he does, it won't beat the weirdness of watching Wiggins attacking in a mountain pass. Even the guy felt like "WTH am I doing here?"
