Has it been oficially confirmed that he is dead? Or is it still just a rumor? |

Oh god no. May he rest in peace, I'm speechless right now. Nothing more to add at this moment. Is there no hope left? |

What do we think now?
Being opportunistic in moments like this is specially disgusting.
You are right, and tbh I cant beleive I just said that, I probably didn't think it through enough. Thank you for pointing out one of my bad traits.
I feel like a massive dick
Please WW, RIP.
don't worry
This is just about bad luck, and it could've happen nearly in every race, I think.

RAI would be expected to know, although expect a RCS announcement soon.
EDIT: Confirmed by Cycling News https://www.cyclin...alia-crash

Sporza confirms it to.
Really can't believe this one bit. The first thing that flashed to my mind when i saw him was Casartelli. Very bad news.

This is so unreal. Worst thing is that his girlfriend is pregnant. My thoughts are with her and his whole family.
Don't know what else to say.
R.I.P. Wouter, we'll always remeber you.

If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

The worst thing which could happen now happend. Although this was an oridnary stage i hop the Giro organisers will stop the search for new limits, no matter if up- or downhill.

Edit: German website radsport-news.com wrote his girlfriend is pregnant.

Reports say it was a fracture at the base of the skull.
If true, it makes it much more horrible, because short of wearing the kind of helmets Motorcyclists wear, then it could happen to others.
RIP Wouter, gone too soon, but you won't be forgotten. |

So, so sad. I still can't believe it, even though I've cried a lot.
A really talented rider. We can only hope he lost consciousness quickly and didn't feel too much pain. |
