Thanks AndySchleck and cuxu. Since this is our first race on extreme, there is no great results today.
08.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Prologue
Amsterdam: 8.2km
The best early time was set by young slovakian Peter Sagan. Liquigas has a really weak lineup since neither Basso or Nibali is competing here.
However, Sagan's time didn't stand long before Czech TT champion Frantisek Rabon beated it.
Posthuma was even faster than Rabon. 10'48 was the new time to beat.
Gerdemann's time was slower than Posthuma's, but not by much (+6s).
Italian TT champion Marco Pinotti was really fast out there today. He clocked the best time so far and moved Posthuma down to second.
Pozzovivo should be happy about that there isn't much TT in this Giro. He lost huge amounts of time on this short distance.
Van den Broeck was really strong in Romandie and continues getting good results here (+21s).
Scarponi clocked the same time as Van den Broeck.
However, Fränk was one second faster than Scarponi and VdB, which gives him a very small advantage for the mountains.

Thanks baia and AndySchleck. I don't even feel any difference between hard and extreme.
09.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 2
Amsterdam > Utrecht: 205.1km
The pack splitted in the final 15 kilometres. That happens on all stages with hard wind, but this time Scarponi was sitting in the second group. Sagan and Mollema were also there, but nobody was looking in any hurry to catch up.
Up the front, Viganò was leading out Bennati, who was on his wheel. Bennati had a great day today (+5).
Gasparotto decided to try a long sprint, but Bennati easily followed him. Napolitano was in Bennati's slipstream and Chicchi behind Napolitano.
In the final turn, Bennati blasted past Gasparotto, like if the Astana rider was standing still. Nobody had the power to follow Bennati, not even a great sprinter like Chicchi.
Bennati was totally superior in the sprint and takes a great victory. This is a good start for Bennati, as his goal is the points jersey. Gasparotto held on for second, while Ventoso grabbed the last podium spot. Group Scarponi lost over 2 minutes today, which means that Scarponi is now far back in the overall.
Crash afterwards, so only a screen today.

Thanks guys.
10.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 3
Amsterdam > Middelburg: 210.0km
Posthuma moved to the front with just under 5 kilometres left. Viganò and Bennati was behind him, a very good position for the sprint.
However, when Viganò started his leadout, McEwen decided to try a long sprint. Bennati and Gasparotto easily followed him.
Bennati flew past old McEwen under Flamme Rouge. Where are all the sprinters in this race? Bennati needs some challenge.
Another superior sprint win for our Italian sprinter. Nobody was close to him today either, second placed McEwen was a couple of meters behind Bennati.
Another crash afterwards = Results screen

If you will show such form in mountains with Schleck, then it's just a fight for 2nd place for others

Thanks dudi and baia.
@Alakagom. I think the lack of good sprinters here plays a big role in Bennati's superiority.
12.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 4
Messina > Monte Etna: 159.0km
What a great place to have the start on. The weather was also really good.
We decided to let Bruno Pires set the pace on the first climb. At the top only 80 riders were left in the pack. All our riders had made it over the top, though.
On the final climb Denifl brought back the breakaway.
Only a couple of hundred meters later the first attack came. No big name, though, but a nice attack from Giampaolo Caruso (Katusha). Since he isn't a favourite we decided to relax and let other teams bring him back.
Just seconds after that, Cunego putted in a powerful attack. He was joined by Pozzovivo and Serpa. They quickly joined Caruso at the front. Schleck saw Cunego charging for the attack, so he could react fast. Rohregger helped him get up to the leading riders.
Schleck decided to set a hard pace in the small leading group, which resulted in that only Cunego could follow the Luxemburger. All the other attackers fell back to the pack.
Van den Broeck realised the danger and attacked to try to bridge up to the two big guns at the front.
He couldn't reach them, though, Schleck and Cunego rode away from everybody else. With just over a kilometer left Schleck's hard pace was too much for Cunego too and Fränk got a gap to the Italian.
Gerdemann got inspired by Schleck's strong riding and managed to attack from the pack. He was currently third on the road, since Van den Broeck was also brought back.
Nobody could stop Schleck today and he takes Leopard's third straight stage win in this Giro.
A tired Cunego crossed the line 23 seconds after Schleck. He did what he could today, but didn't have the power to stay with Schleck in the end.
Gerdemann took third after his attack in the final kilometres. I hadn't expected him to ride this well in the mountains, so a nice surprise for us.
Van den Broeck won the sprint in the pack ahead of Velits and Navarro, but he misses the bonus seconds. That must be frustrating for him, as he looked strong on the climb.
Crash again, I don't know what's wrong at the moment.

13.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 5
Novara > Novi Ligure: 165.1km
Fränk enjoyed today's ride in his new jersey.
On the Castellania hill with 50 km left, Gasparotto (5th overall), his team mate Petrov and Vona (Farnese) broke away. Their maximum advantage was just over 2 minutes.
With 10 km left, Gasparotto had left his breakaway companions behind and was riding solo at the front. The pack wasn't far behind, though, so he was caught shortly afterwards.
Posthuma moved to the front with 5 km to the finish. Viganò and Bennati followed, while McEwen was being lead out by one of his team mates beside our train.
3 km from the line, Viganò launched a powerful sprint to help his team mate Bennati. Viganò was so strong that only Bennati and Galimzyanov could follow him.
Bennati moved past Viganò with 1 km left. Galimzyanov was still sitting on Bennati's wheel looking quite comfortable.
The russian apparently looked better than he felt, as he couldn't even try to pass Bennati. This means Leopard's fourth straight stage win here in the Giro. Our results is even better on extreme than on hard.

Domination! Maybe you should consider changing back to hard? |

Thanks guys. I hope that all the wins won't make you feel that the story is boring. After this stage I edited the save game, making extreme even more extreme.
14.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 6
Fidenza > Marina di Carrara: 166.7km
Just before the summit of the last climb, Gerdemann launched an attack. Immediately Van den Broeck and Scarponi responded to try to bridge the small gap that Gerdemann had got.
However, Van den Broeck was just interested in getting some KoM points, so he slowed down after the summit and was brought back to the pack. Gerdemann was in the lead, but Scarponi wasn't far behind. Neither were the pack.
Gerdemann did all he could, but when the sprint started in the pack, the two escapees had no chance. Schleck was leading out Bennati, who still felt good.
Bennati passed Schleck inside the final kilometer. Nobody was even trying to follow his wheel. Fränk still had some power left to try to fight for a podium.
Bennati took the win, unchallenged. Fränk held on for second, just ahead of Scarponi. Too bad that the finish on this stage is bugged, it doesn't give bonus seconds or points. I hope that the editing I did will be visible on tomorrow's stage, as this is just too easy.
