A man who never had much desire in life other than to ride his bike, have fun doing it, and win a few races. He had amazing talent. You could make a case for him being the most talented rider ever.
And at the same time you can make a case for being the most unlucky. And that's not even counting the cancer.
"I took what I had to take. If I die before I'm 50 that's my problem", was his reply to the doping issue. Well, he made it to 50 years and 19 days of age.
