Can you explain? He is both tremendous at the bike and in good shape, in contrast to Cavendish.
(Quoting Andreas, but more responding to BouBBox)
I dont like Hushovd, and last year I dont think he did deserve it. But on balance this year, so far he does.
Stage 1 - He had good luck in avoiding the crashes, when Cavendish and Farrar did not
Stage 2 - On the whole, he was unlucky. If not for the crashes, it is very likely that he would have scored points, maybe even won the stage.
Stage 3 - He used his skill to get in the Schleck group, and then did what he had to do from there
If the Green jersey was a pure sprinters jersey, Hushovd would not win it. But it's not. There are points on offer on all stages, making it a consistency jersey. It favours the sprinters of course, but sprinting is not always enough.

You could argue that actually he would as he can participate in sprints that cavendish can't.
edit: and as a Cavendish fan, I really dislike admitting that.

When did I say dirty? Just saying I don't like the way Hushovd rides and the way he complains about everything which doesn't advantage him eventhough some people get really hurt in crashes. He doesn't reflect beauty of cyclisme. He is a winner, not a beautiful one that's all.
Team Europcar !!

Unfair? Sorry, but when has he been unfair? He could have attacked him self up to Chavanel yesterday if he wanted.

you overestimate him methinks. 4 minutes seems unlikely.

on the vino/contador thing by the way.
The 3km rule covers mechanicals. So Vino is blameless really.

Nahh, it was less then a minute or so when they came out of the woods. And Chavanel did not ride any fast, just everyone else riding really slow.
Btw, no commision.

he would have been chased back though. i think he would have been best to wait and sprint anyhow.

Excatly, A.S.O has decided to have a cobbled stage with 35 points to the winner, so then Hushovd deserves the green jersey.
It is not Hushovd, who has been lucky, it is just Farrar being really unlucky. Cavendish fall was kind of his own fault.
