Stage 4
Salerno - Montevergine di Mercogliano
Well I was expecting and also afraid that stage. Stage wich will show possible winner candidates...and also first hint for me how Cioni will manage.
I have to start with the bad news..after second stage crash Zanini isnt recovered at all..it hurts when he ride flat and even more when need to climb (in early season he has been much better on the climbs then McEwen,,today it is opposite way). This is a long tour and why to keep pushing in that condition..Predictor-Lotto has now 8 riders left.
Last climb and lot of action ..Lövkvist and Parra opens the show...whn we had 13km. to go.
1km. later Dekker,Pena and Cioni cant keep he's head cool he also follows..400m. later he comes back..because Cioni find out ..that this will be suicide. Lövkvist still a head.
8km. to go..Simoni counters for Kirchen atack..Schleck is trying..also Nocentini. Still nothing...Lampre or Liquigas team chase easily and hard those attempts down.
5km. to go...Di Luca shows how explosive he can be..get fast 50m. advantage over the main group. Cioni is well placed and also has notice that Di Luca atack..but he doesn't have any power left to follow..he just hope to survive over the finish line.
Behind Di Luca we have nice strong group formed..Bureghin,Cunego, Ricco, Piepoli, Simoni, Noncentini, Schleck, Savoldelli, Cioni, Cauchioli and Kirchen. Is those guys elite of this year Giro. Surprised that I can find also Bettini in that group and doesnt see Dekker and any of Disco guys (Danielson?), Arroyo is also missing.
Di Luca taking already second stage win..he has just 6sec. short to take a pink jersey..but he owns after today mountain and sprint jersey.

Stage 5
Teano - Frascati
Day for McEwen trying to take he's first win.
Davis who has been so far quite invisible in the sprints..trying today breakaway.
This must be scariest moment for breakaway rider...Paquet,Reynes and Celestino have just 6km. to go and they got small advantage..50-50 chanche.
van Summeren who has shown he's great shape is McEwen main helper today...he can easily follow any train and drag Robbie behind him. Also Bennati and Brown has noticed that..they follow Predictor-Lotto duo.
Gasparotto have strong sprint at left side when Robbie jump's off he's train and trying to push himself at the middle of Hunt and Furlan. Bennati is way to behind to take a win today.
Gasparotto takes a win...
More intresting is who's gonna be 2nd. McEwen did it..great job. Heck he has just one point short to take a sprinters jersey.

Stage 6
Tivoli - Spoleto
Four breakaway riders Redondo,Pena Iza, Paulinho and Larsson.
This is has been has cycling fan saying..booring stage..60. riders main group in last downhill section..non of the favorites doesnt atacked today. They probably prepearing for next week.
Ricco opens the sprint..Brant,Kirchen, Buresghin..Nocentini..Bettini also is in that game he goming for back and fast.
Bettini wins the stage...It's realy hard to beat italians in Giro..7 stages as behind and italia has 7. I'm considering to brin McEwen home..to preapeare for TdF..what you think?

Well if McEwen isn't fit enough to compete in the Giro then I think It'd be a good idea to pulling him out and start working towards the TDF, where he is going to win the Green Jersey right? |

Yep this is the plan and also sponsors goal..next stages will be for hilly sprinters like Bettini,Ricco and Di Luca etc. after that green jersey are gone..after that we have hugh mountain stages.

I don't think pulling him out will affect his morale. I think it's only affected negatively if he doesn't race in a race he wants in his programme and it's affected positively if he races in one of the races listed in his profile as his "favorite races"

Thanks..belived or not this was dilemma ...in real and opposite game. Robbie is coming home after tomorrow stage..and I'm starting close up he's training...to be in perfet shape in TdF. Only seven riders left after stage 7..this is real stuff. |

Stage 7
Spoleto - Scarperia
Longest stage of the tour..should be suitable for Bettini, Kirchen, Ricco and Di Luca
That was planned..Robbie is quiting the Giro..managment has decided that this is it..no stage win this is negative..two times second in the line this is positive. Next goal for Robbie will be TdF..I try to but him in top shape there. Auge falls..he easily manage to get himself back to the peloton.
Last hill..Cunego, Di Luca, Bettini is off. Cioni moves in front of the peloton to keep tempo high as possible and be ready for abother break attempt.
Savoldelli atacks..Cioni jump's behind he's backwheel.
Downhill section..Cunego and Di Luca have some advantage over Bettini. But Bettini is closing..he is decending like a stone today.
Savoldelli,Cioni and Rebellin have small advantage over the peloton but this isn't enough..peloton closing that gap.
Sprint..they have over 2min. gap between peloton..this is hugh. Di Luca takes a pink for shure Cunego cant fight with Bettini and Di Luca today.
Bettini takes a stage win and increases he's point jersey lead. Pulling McEwen out seems more and more reasnoble move.
Main goal --to have Cioni in top 10..is quite reasnoble before hugh mountains.

Another UCI protour race...because main and topform riders in may...are in Giro. This is opoortunity to TdF riders...test he's form and see also how opponent going. In quick look at startlist I noticed at least 3..possible TdF GC rider ...Klöden; Evans and Rogers. I don't expect Evans win..he is still clearly out of shape..maybe Suisse tour will give as first hint how Evans is going. Jufre can be best man of Lotto team after all..ofcorse there is TT..wich is not good news for him... Tour starts with TTT.., this is not good for me..
Cadel Evans
Josep Jufre Pou
Tom Steels
Bert Roesems
Pieter Mertens
Nick Gates
Matthew Lloyd
Dries Devenyns

Stage 8
Barberino di Mugello - Fiorano Modenese
Breakaway group is very serious today..first climb and Pauriol and Paulinho sets the tempo...They destroying 6 riders group..Sörensen is last man who have to admit ..enough has enough.
68km. to go and Carrara atack on last hill top. He had lot to ride but most of it is light downhill all the way.
50km. to go and Predictor.Lotto flat "diesel" van Summeren atacks and follows Carrara example.van Summern has been in super form..strange but he has climbed previous stages as good has van Huffel.
van Summeren caches and passes all early breakaway riders..and even cached Carrara..stage is just 10km. to long. In 20km. mark they both know that they has no chanches today. that has given me idea..for second goal..has McEwen failed to take a stage win..I will try different ways..still main goal remains... Cioni in top 10.
Sprint...has my sprinters Zanini and McEwen already at home..there isnät any chanches for me today. Bettini,Sacchi,Pozzato and Schleck is in action.
Bettini again..he's already can consider himself has one of Giro stars. Second in GC..so far (I will enjoyng that moment when Cioni passes him in the mountains or at TT)

Stage 1
TTT
We start at team timetrial..this is gonna be baddest option to start a tour for me)...CSC dissapointment 15th. +36sec.
Contador leading Disco squad 4th. +11sec.
Predictor -Lotto I dont have much to say anoyher TTT "crash" slowest time and +1'22
Klöden and Astana team 2nd. +6sec.
Todays winner is Caisse..they open's the stage and no other team wasnt capable to beat this time.
I was depressed has usual after TTT..so I forget to export the stats...but ..

Stage 9
Reggio Nell'Emilia - Lido di Camaiore
Sprinters... stage not fun for me this time..Has main sprinters are already home..I try to give Sentjens a chanche. He has been so weak at previous sprint stages..lets hope he can give us something more if he has named has main man at the stage.
There isn't much to report about the race..sprint:Murilo Fischer help's Gasparotto in perfect sprint position. Point's ranking season is a little to behind..Sacchi,Bennati and surprised that we see Davis first time at the picture. Dont know yet he's season plan yet..in Giro he probably going day by day better. I was trying to but also Sentjens on that battle..bu the isn't good enough and clearly out of shape. This is Giro after all
Bennati takes the stage win..he is back after hilly stages. Davis second..Gasparotto finished at 4th. ..probably cause of to early sprint.
