Tour de France - Stage 9
Stijn: Really hope for another win today!
Willy: First day in yellow, I'm nervous!
And here we see the strength of Garmin, three jerseys riding alonside each other. Stijn Van Gent in green, Willy Wouters in yellow and Wilco Kelderman in white!
The break is having a tough day. After 30 km, nobody managed to create a decent gap, this is going fast!
We're caught in an amazingly close sprint for the intermediate points! Van Gent takes it on the line!
The preparation for the sprint by Garmin here. Wouters doing some work himself!
And Van Gent is off! It might be a little early, though.
Aw, he gets passed, better luck next time, Stijn! It's Feillu who wins for the home crowd!

Stijn: I'm still not getting it 100% right, my sprints now. Only good thing is we see a lot of different winners, which allows me to keep my lead in the Points Classification.
Tomorrow's a time trial! Big day, as 2 mountain stages will follow it up.
Until tomorrow!

Special Reader's Competition
Hi everyone,
As you all know, the end of the story is coming. Soon this will be over. Who knows how the two Flemish Pro Riders will manage after closing down their blog? A rider's future isn't carved in stone, right? Well, fortunately, an imaginary rider's future can be!
I have made a complete list of achievements by both riders way past the blog, until their retirement. This will be the foundation for the competition!
What?
You will get a series of questions, which will be answered by a number. Every contestant PMs me their answers. For every question, your score is how many years/numbers you are off. The contestant with the lowest overall score wins the game.
When?
You can start sending in your answers now. The competition finishes as soon as Stijn and Willy enter Paris for the end of the Tour. So that will be a couple of days.
Why?
There isn't any prize money. But there is an award! The award of this competition, ladies and gentlemen, is nothing less than...
Spoiler
THE SAVE-GAME OF DOUBLE FEATURE, FOR YOUR PLEASURE!
And, of course, an honorary mention in Stijn & Willy's final blog!!
Example of the game
If you didn't understand my silly English, here's an example of how this will go.
Question 0: In what year will Stijn eat 5 candy bars in 20 minutes?
Contestant 1 answers: 2020
Contestant 2 answers: 2016
Actual answer was: 2019
Contestant 1 has 1 point
Contestant 2 has 3 points
Contestant 1 wins the game!
Question n°1
Stijn Van Gent is a true Flandrien. 2016 was the year when he first won the Ronde Van Vlaanderen. How many Ronde Van Vlaanderen victories did Stijn Van Gent have when he retired?
Question n°2
Stijn Van Gent was a multi-talented rider. In 2017 he entered the Amstel Gold Race and finished 6th. In 2019, he got his highest result ever in the Amstel Gold Race, which was that?
Question n°3
Willy Wouters is not the greatest GT contender ever, but he's solid and talented. During his career, he slowly developed a love/hate relationship with Italy. When did he finally win his first Giro d'Italia?
Question n°4
Willy Wouters started his career with an early World Championship Title in Time Trialing. He reclaimed that title one more time, in what year was that?
Question n°5
The friendship between Stijn Van Gent and Willy Wouters is famous and forever in the history books. However, they didn't spend their entire career in the same team. In what year did the two part and both went to separate teams? (remember the transfer is on October. So if their first season apart is 2050, the answer is 2049)
Question n°6
Stijn Van Gent is a Belgian household name, almost as big as Merckx. In 2015 he became World Champion. How many World Champion titles did he win in total?
Question n°7
Stijn Van Gent has many records to his name. In 2022 he added another record to his list of achievements: winner of the fastest Paris - Roubaix ever. (46.256 km/h) This was also his final Paris - Roubaix victory. How many did he win in total?
Question n°8
Willy Wouters loves cycling, that's for sure. Taking after his example Voigt, he had a long career. At what age did Wouters finally retire?
Question n°9
Willy Wouters slowly developed a talent for Classics. Unfortunately he never won Milan - San Remo, but how many Monuments did he win? (All victories count, so 5x RvV would give us answer 5)
Question n°10
Stijn Van Gent and Willy Wouters have scored an amazing amount of National Titles. Only once, however, have they both conquered a National Title in the same year: Willy in the time trial, Stijn on the road. In what year was that?
BONUS QUESTION
(only in the event of a draw, doesn't count for the first ranking)
How many official victories did Stijn Van Gent have when he retired?
Good luck and I hope to receive your answers soon!

What a coincidence, I was planning to ask you how Stijn and Willy would do until the ends of their careers, seems like you had similar thoughts
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Thanks for those who already entered. Not spoiling who, but the current score is set on 21, it will be difficult to beat!
I might also include a special prize for the one that has the most spot-on answers, the record now is 4/10 perfect answers!

Funny, I wanted to ask you in PM if I could try out the save-game when this story ended
Gonna give it a try, will be very hard with a score of 21 to beat

Very interesting competition, I've missed almost half of the story, so I have no idea, if I have even a slight chance in it

Jesleyh - No reason not to enter
TomC - Well I can assure you it's mostly a guessing game.
Their current palmares on the first page/first post can help you, if you want to join that is

I didn't really simulate the game. I made up their futures
But, no, I didn't lower their stats

Oh, thought you did the TdF reports already and simulated the next seasons. But ok

Nah, you could've copied the career and re-named it, and save one as a prize, and simulated with the other
Anyway, sent in my PM. Probably sucks

Stijn needs a win soon
I'm not entering the game because I can't wait to play pcm 2013, so that save game is a bit useless. So I will give someone else a chance to win it
