 Autumn Tour of Norway
This is a new race on the calendar designed as a preparation race for the World Championships to give the Nordic countries the best possible conditions to get their riders in shape and the national coaches the best possible conditions for choosing the final line-up.
There will be two flat stages, two mountain stages and a time-trial.
In fact Thor has been part of organizing the race and it will not only act as Hushovds final race outside the national team, but we have also promised him and the other organizers that we would bring our profiles for the worlds to help raise the profile of the race.
Time will tell if that is overdoing it...
We caught Boasson-Hagen for a quick question from one of our fans before the start of the first stage. MrUfo87 asks: How does it feel to break the record from eight stage victories in one Tour de France? Can we expect you to break some other Tour de France records?
I doubt it. I need to win green five more times to match Zabel and 21 stages to match Merckx. That doesn’t mean I won’t try but I don’t expect to get a Tour like this one ever again.
For now my focus in on the world championships where I will race both the time trial and the road race.
Stage 1: Fredriksstad – Tønsberg
A flat stage to open with.
Thor opens his campaign by jumping in the break.
The other teams aren’t willing to give him any presents though and in the end we’re forced to chase a bunch sprint.
With 5 km to go Navardauskas still has a gap just over 40 seconds though. He is just much stronger today than we had expected.
He can’t compete against our train composed of two world champions though and has to forfeit with just over a km to go.
This is how you satisfy the home fans!

Stage 2: Skien – Tveitaskogen
The organizers call this a mountain stage, but coming from the Vuelta I’m not entirely sure I agree…
Again today Thor tries to get away early. He quickly built a good gap with Rutkiewicz, but as soon as they got over the first KOM the Pole didn’t want to be part of it anymore leaving Thor alone.
Thor doesn’t give up that easy though and continues his ride alone.
With 55 km to go he has 1’06 to a chasing group of five and six minutes to the main peloton.
Hushovd digs deep to hang on to Clarke when he comes up from behind and the two build a large gap making them the favourites for the stage win with 15 km left to race.
In the peloton we respond nicely to the attacks but remain calm ourselves to avoid squeezing up the pace enough to catch Hushovd.
Clarke willingly takes the last lead and opens the sprint as if he has been told by his Norwegian manager to give Thor the best possible conditions today.
Hushovd makes his move under la flame rouge, but the last uphill section could still prove tricky as he is getting tired.
But no! Thor holds on to take the win. He can hardly believe it as he crosses the line ending his career in the most beautiful manner possibly!
In the sprint among the favourites we prove why we’re on top of the rankings…

Both: I haven't got the faintest idea why Joker as ranked higher than us in the teams either, but I can live with that...
