Same here. I could waste time practicing and still be 98% as useless...
Puncture is still one of the most annoying thing what could happening when you riding in group.
P.S. had to mention. My new bike has arrived Giant TCR Advanced 1...Black. Managed to get one of the last of them at europe. This bike is sold out.
New year bike is white again.
Damn it is stiff and pure joy to ride. |

Rode the fourth (out of 5) race in the Norwegian National Cup this sunday. An extremely hard race in Bergen, with 168 km and 3500 height metres in total (not for me). A hard pace from the start destroyed my hopes already on the first laps. 140 riders started and about 60 were left in the race after 5 of 12 laps. I got only 3 laps, but still ended up in 68th place. Felt bad though, so not happy with my performance in a race that should have suited me very well.
The good thing about the race is that my good mate and training buddy Ole Forfang (6th in the junior worlds ITT last year) showed some previously unknown sprinting abilities and got the victory from a small group, ahead of the good sprinters Jonas Orset (Random chinese team) and HÃ¥kon Berger (Ringeriks-Kraft). Looks good for him, who hopefully will be a part of the Joker team next year, alongside another young norwegian talent, Anders Skaarseth.
Did also make my mtb race debut earlier this summer. It went pretty bad, as expected, as I haven't ridden on the mtb bike since march. Did fairly good in the start, but in the more technical parts of the race I cracked completely. Still good training though.
Not many races for the coming weeks, and with the school finished I have a lot of time for training. Hope to get in better shape, and fight for better results in september. Not much expectations for the last Cup race, as it is quite flat; but other more hilly races remains as well.
Here are yesterdays Cup race: https://www.strava...5/overview |

Only rain rain rain. Most unfun August for cycling like... dunno, how long ago.
@Nils Erik: Great stuff, keep those reports coming. Love reading them. You go guy!
EDIT: So many home trainer sessions lately make Shonak so dull.

Had pretty strange fall yesterday, while trying to do something crazy. Basically, I tried playing cyclo-football or whatever that thing is called (search on YouTube to see what it actually is) while moving fast and I managed to "shoot" the ball 3-4 first times. Moved the wheel a bit too much on the side in 5th try, lost control and the bike catapulted me.
Would've been one pretty mad crash if I didn't react quickly and had a solid land. My face was the closest part of body to the asphalt (as I gone over my bike), but somehow managed to put my hands in front and prevent some asphalt face-cleaining. Got out of it with few scratches on both of my hands and left leg, so nothing really serious.

since your not called Danny Pate, it's good that you manage to prevent some asphalt face cleaning.

It happens matey, what wheels are you running? Always keen to hear issues people have with components, still learning wheel building myself and have been practising on old worn out bit and pieces. Looking at getting myself a descent level Parktool wheel jig once I nail it and start doing custom hoops for fellow riders
My cycling has been very up and down of late, since my last Everest attempt when I broke my wrist 70 ks into it (made it 325 ks into a 500 k attempt before I pulled the pin thanks to the fog not the swollen wrist) things just have not gone right. Managed to get back onto the bike later that week to knock out the Rapha Rising challenge but have had one thing after another since that ride. Should of taken some time off the bike but 1. It is my main mode of transport 2. I work using my hands 3. I just dig riding my bike! Sliced my left index finger down to the bone with a new kitchen knife, Picked up a nasty cold which turned into a chest infection and have worked stupid hours to result in one of my quietest months in 2 years. Spent 150 ks & just under 4000 vertical on a local climb this week https://www.strava...er=overall it is harder than it looks as it has a steep standing start turn around at the base and then does not hold a consistent grade with a 300 metre section the averages out at 11% ramps up to 16%, the road surface is pretty good and all going well I am looking at having another Everest attempt on it at the end of the month, it should take 135 laps and around 350 ks, if the wrist heals well enough then I will be knocking out my 3rd Everest.
I want to have 5 completed by the end of the year, 2 successful attempts and another failed attempt. The other 2 I am thinking of doing is this absolute BEAST The Dargo Hill Climb https://www.strava...nts/629059 It is classed as Australia's 2nd hardest climb behind Mt Baw Baw, the average gradient certainly does not show how hard this climb is (10.7's @ 8%) the 1st 2 k's comes in @ 12% and then it has a section known as "The Wall" at the end which av.'s out at 17% for 250 metres
The other climb I have marked down is a true crazy "Hells 500" riders climb, is called Old Coach Rd and has 1.2 k section on rough gravel which av's out at 11% https://www.strava...s/1767500.
Thought I would keep you Cats and Kittens updated on whats going on and on a side note been talking to a cycling buddy of mine who teaches design at a local University who is cobbling together a PCM.Daily cycling jersey, once she comes up with a couple of candidates I will post them and let you guys vote on it, once we have a result I have another cycling friend who manufactures boutique/custom cycling kit and will get some made up and happy to keep any cost down if you guys like the outcome and would like one, it will be quality kit (same guy who makes the Hells 500 kit https://www.nemisi... If any of our graphics guys on the forum have any PCM.Daily jerseys to submit feel free to PM me and i'll throw it into the mix.
Ah! Before I forget, nils erik I am loving the reports from races, keep it up buddy and keep reporting what you are doing. Wish I had your pace on the road
One other bit you guys who climb might be interested in is this https://theclimbin.../Main_Page
It was a page started by a local cyclist as a uni project and has become a climbers treasure trove in my part of Oz, you can add any climb in your area, be it a 20 k HC monster or a 200 metre local road. Check it out and add to what will become a great resource to cyclists around the globe.

This really looks like a great idea. Will try adding some climbs home in Norway if I get the time.
Thanks for the feedback from last race report. Have seen through the race list for the autumn, and it is nearly empty. The next two months there are only two (maybe three) weekends with races with national participation. At least you get much time for training. (Or writing about climbs for the wiki )

PCMDaily shirt idea sounds fantastic, looking forward to those designs. The Hells 500 jerseys look massive anywayz.

In Kelderman's defence, it is a flat segment and it's pretty close to his home. However, I did this on my normal everyday bike, who is currently at the bike shop for repair

sadly (for you ) that doesn't give you as segment leader. it's stupid I know but the first person to do it has the KOM
nah, I'm not doing long rides for a while (only short training TT's without any TT assesories ) and my usual speed is not much either I don't even look at the elevation gain standings anymore

Yes, that's disproportionately annoying - you give your all on a segment and end up wishing you'd found that extra 1 second when you get home. What's wrong with joint KOM holders anyway?
