I was thinking the same but Yesterdays TT restored my faith, also I have noticed that bar their big riders Astana have a very weak team.
i think issoisso meant his time has past for GCs, or mountain stages. But this guy is still very dangerous for TTs
Yeah, it's the natural devolution.
It's a progressive downhill from here, I guess.
Yeah, I agree with this

Well both Kloden and Contador have been badly isolated in the past week and given they both seem to think they are in good form I can't see why Astan wouldn't send some decent helpers.
At Paris-Nice they had Paulinho, Zubeldia and Popovych. One was caught in a crash and heavily injured. The other two were nowhere.
At Tirreno, the "best" they had was Brajkovic who retired due to a crash
.
At both races, second liners such as Muravyev, Noval and Navarro were extremely disappointing as well.
The problem isn't the squad. It's that the riders are off form and aiming for much later in the season.

Btw, top 4 of today, listen well:
Scarponi, Garzelli, Basso and, though distanced, Di Luca.
What do these 4 have in common? |

I think everyone's aware of the dominance of the shoe-making industry...

seems strange to see a guy whose best results are 1st in Course de la Paix in 2004 and 4th of Fleche Wallone and LBL in 2003 leading a race like Tirreno-Adriatico, no ?

Seems even stranger, since he was convicted in 2007 for involvement in OP
It's always the same... they come back, and immediately dominate. |

Yes indeed. Basso also figures in a similar story. He was second in the Japan Cup 2008, which was his first race after his return. And now he nearly got on the podium in Tirreno-Adriatico. Like he was never forced to quit at all. |

Indeed..doper on not. He was before and is still one of the best stage racer..in perfect age(like we all know only man who can challange Contador one to one situation) If I look he´s form now..Lance is quite hopless against him at the Giro...

Let's give them both time. Unlike Contador, Basso and Armstrong aren't peaking to win races now. They're building for May. Let's see how they are in May before passing judgement.

..I´d like to take it easy now and wait for that. You are correct about that..Lance is acting weird lately..he seems to be to busy with he´s PR campaigne. But even I who doesnt race afraid Armstrong..he is mr. cycling..has always been (I wached races what he did before cancer..this was mad man and grazy fighter).
He will change for that again If he is angry enough.
Yes I hate and admire him |

As good as Armstrong may be, he will have to admit that at the moment he wouldn't be able to keep up with Basso. But of course age is also an important aspect. |

When everything blew up at the start of the climb Gesink had problems again (this guy has no explosiveness at all), wiithin moments he was 1'34 behind.
Then he got into a rythm, 2km from the top, he was... 8 seconds behind Nibali/Basso... But then he literally hit the wall from that pursuit, and fell back to the group Klöden in the downhill.
I don't know what's weirder, how you can lose 1'30 in a few kilometers. Or how you can almost make that up in the latter part of the climb. |

And lose it all again in the downhill. Remember Paris-Nice last year. |

No this was not the same, he already lost it 2km from the top, where he exploded
In the downhill he just had no power left and waited for the Klöden group this time. Read carefully please |

I'm guessing the first groupe got the explosing of the attack, which Gesink lacks a lot. so they take 1'30. then the front groupe slows down a little because the attacks is over and the gap is made, while Gesink, the climber, finally gets into his rythme, and start to speed up.
the combination of them both make him take back that much.
but losing 1'30, and then taking it back, is indeed pretty weird... |

I've read that almost the entire Ceramica Flaminia team is sick and will therefore leave the race. Only Vladimir Duma would still be in the race today. Can somebody confirm this?
