What the hell was that? Sagan hit the deck really hard, heavz bruises, but is said to be okay to continue. I was so worried. sucks for T.Martin though...
And congrats to Kittel, he had no opponents left.

Didn't have the chance to see the stage, 35+ degrees = beach day, so I will see the recap later. Crazy stage it seems. |

Afterwards I think about this:
What would have been, well ok the bus was moved anyway but think the bus would have stuck there, if there would be the radio ban so no information at all?
Riders sprinting all the way with 60km/h (probably more) at that bend and then a bus..

They'd have been black flagged. Stop immediately. |

Apparently nothing broken for Martin. He has some pretty nasty wounds, though. Picture in spoiler. Don't click if you don't like blood.

It's unlikely that he'll start tomorrow, according to his manager.

He better not abandon, or that could spell disaster for my fantasy team.

Can someone confirm who that rider was squeezing through that caused the main crash? From the shots i can't quite make out whether it was Greipel or not, and frankly i don't trust the BBC.
That Bus is quite possibly going to be the highlight of this race, funniest thing i've seen at Le Tour since i started watching it. Sheer brilliance from both Orica and the organizers.
Followed up by the expected chaos and crashes for the stage, and week 1 in general. Some odd decisions by the organizers didn't help the situation, but nevertheless was a cracking opening stage. My fears that this would not live up to 2003 are eased for now.
Shame for Tony, but at least it's nothing major. Doesn't seem like anyone else was that badly off either considering. Also seemed odd to me how two crashes came from people hitting advertising banners.

It was Greipel. Broke a bit off his bike, hence him stopping. |

If Kristoff wins tomorrow and Kittel gets third. Who will then be in the leaders jersey on stage 3?

Funniest comment about the bus fail: They asked him this morning to drive the bus as close to the finish. Job done!
And I agree with TMM that two crashed were caused by banners. The ASO apologized Hoogerland for that.

Apparently someone has the brilliant idea to get some air out of the tires from the bus, and after that it got free. That guy just saved the Tour.
Phil Liggett mentioned that on air, atleast 5mins before it was moved
So did Rolf Sørensen, and he isn't the most clever guy around. It wasn't all that difficult to figure out, and since the finish line directeur said after the race that there is a mechanism to highten and lower the "problem" I can't see to think anything than the guys in charge was extremely pathetic in their running and jumping around for no obvious reason.

Eh, you mean second? Cause that way, it's obviously Kristoff.
In the other scenario, dunno. Rock-paper-scissors? Arm wrestling?

He had one along with Stannard, who also crashed in the mass-crash. Both fine.
Also, apparently Tony Martin abandons. |

Van Poppel, aside from being the youngest finisher in the top 3 in 80 years, also had his first race day ever with race radios.. hoogerland had to show him how to use it |

And seconds later Hoogerland was upside down.

It was Kwiatkowski in the Polish NC jersey.

Greipel would have had the stage won if not for that bike problem he had at the very end of the stage! I would have won some PCM$!
