I'm very glad that you like it, as that was my aim, to get somewhere near the same standard as Guido, SN and Schleck's stories.
The motivation to keep the story going at times is as hard as it is to train every day... anyone who does sport seriously will understand that!

Stage One of the ten stage - eleven day Volta a Portugal
Not yet a pro tour race, but one of the longest Portugese stage races going. Hopefully the tour will see Jollet, Pioline, Morizot, and Chainel along with Martinez gaining some valuable experience. Belkov is here with adequate climbing back up to hopefully do ok in the overall. With 2 ITTs, one right at the start, and the other one right at the end, Belkov should do well. Only two or three big climbing days for him to contend with, so he shouldn't lose too many minutes on some pure climbers.
Both our top two sprinters are here as this has the flattest stages in over the next eleven days, and so we hope to get some valuable top 5 finishes on every flat stage.
Here is the team list:
The first stage is a short ITT over 7km (ignore what the profile says it is...)
Belkov will be looking just to keep in the top 10 and minimise any time lost. As he got to the start gate, he was pretty psyched for it, and managed to get a good starting 8th place.

I'll need it.
Stage Two
Finishes with some weird rolling territory.
A break went, and was caught with 50km left to go, no one else attacked, so with 25km left, the pace went back upto 50kmph.
With 2.5km to go, both Tronet and Drujon were out of the runnings for a win, or top 3 placing as they were miles back.
And at the finish, some Portugese guy wins the stage.
Results:
1 Cândido Barbosa LIBERTY SEGUROS 4h59'57
2 Claudio Corioni LAMPRE - FONDITAL s.t.
3 Pedro Soeiro BARBOT - HALCÓN s.t.
4 Pedro Costa VITÓRIA - ASC s.t.

9 David Herrero KARPIN GALICIA s.t.
10 Giosuè Bonomi BARLOWORLD s.t.
67 Maxim Belkov AUBER 93 s.t.
GC:
1 Hugo Sabido BARLOWORLD 5h09'15
2 Tiago Machado RIBERALVES - BOAVISTA + 1
3 Juanjo Cobo SAUNIER DUVAL - PRODIR + 2
4 Pedro Soeiro BARBOT - HALCÓN + 3

9 Ricardo Mestre DUJA - TAVIRA s.t.
10 David Herrero KARPIN GALICIA + 9
11 Maxim Belkov AUBER 93 s.t.
n.b. Close rivals for promotion will be highlighted in GC and Stage results from now on, if i remember.

Maybe, but if say "some American guy scores a goal" when refering to Freddy Adu, you will be cheered by me. Just create a FIFA story in the everything else category |

La Poly Normandie
I must admit i wasn't going to report this race...until i was doing well and decided i would.
Brouzes went in the 2nd break of the day after the 1st with Gaudin in didn't relay. He attacked the break again after a while as the 4 big teams weren't doing any work. He managed to stay away for another 20km to the 30km to go mark. In other words, two laps left. At which point Moreau attacked with Le Mevel, Levarlet was quick to counter, and got away with them, but was soon dropped as he had less stamina. He was joined later by Huguet and with a lap to go, Voeckler attacked, rode past Levarlet and Huguet and straight past the lead two, who never fully got back on terms with him. Levarlet was forced to lead out the sprint for 4th place, and was soon overtaken by a sneaky french rider. A classy top 5 in a one day race will certainly help our cause however.

Stage 3 of that Portugese Tour...
A flat stage that has a few humps in it, and a upward slope finale that could well sort out a lot, as the winner has to have perfect legs today.
A break went early on, with 4 riders getting a maximum of a 10minute lead.
But they were brought back before the final climb, and sprint. Belkov decided with his brilliant form, to have a go, and took the climb and continued on for the 6 sprint points and seconds.
Belkov was very happy with 200 euros
He sat up shortly after and just took it easy in the pack.
Disastor struck for many riders as with 3km to go a LOT of riders went down, many of the favourites went, following Drujon to the ground, who was looking very strong.
Belkov, seen on the left in the picture, avoided the crash, but Cobo from Saunier Duval didn't, and our hopes he would lose time didn't happen. However, Sella did withdraw, and having just been involved in only one main race, we believe he was peaking for this one as well. Too bad

Stage One of the Tour Des Pyrenees
A short 5km time trial, where Malacarne is a slight favourite, and Levarlet is looking to minimise time loss.
Our riders would be these lucky 5, as we needed at least some to enter another race! (talk about over extending the team!)
Lembo is our lucky didn't-simulate-rider.

Stage Four of the Portugal Torture.
Another "flat" day, which i can truely swear at, as cya-logic screws me around once more.
A break goes of 2 riders, who are going to be caught on the climb of the day, so Morizot goes on the attack with a few other riders, this causes the pack to speed up on the descent, but still take it easy up the climb.
He takes 2nd over the climb, and a fair few points for the climbers award.
With the final sprint being up a hill, Belkov attacks, yet a rider with an average of 63 manages to pull him back in time for the Portugese twat to win another stage, furthering his lead. Typical.
And many sprinters do better up an uphill sprint than Belkov as he dies.

Stage Two of the Tour des Pyrenees.
A very interesting stage today.
The run of the next three stages are all mountain stages, with Levarlet as our full leader. With a small team, we aren't looking neccessarily at leading from today, but our aim is a top 3 overall position. To this aim, we weren't going to let any break go without our riders in it, so when one did go, Mespoulede went in it.
His aim for the day would be to collect as many mountain points as possible, and with only a Quickstep rider, Seeldraeyers, a good climber, his aim would be achievable. However after the first climb, only Jean and Kevin were left of the original break away. With Jean's great descending skills, they were never going to be caught by the break again.
Soon, the gap was over 12 minutes, and with only 85km left to go, we were sure that the lead riders would stay away. We told this to Jean, and he was happy, but knew his limitations. We decided that he should keep working with Kevin, but soon would have to let him go.
And sure enough, before the final climb, Jean decided to let Kevin go, they both nodded at each and said they'd see each other at the finish.
So over the top of the final climb Kevin went, with Jean a full 4 minutes after him.
[IMG-l]https://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d87/Cleavers/TourdesPyreneesStage2Seel1st.png[/IMG-l][IMG-r]https://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d87/Cleavers/TourdesPyreneesStage2Mespoulede2nd.png[/IMG-r]
On that climb, Quickstep, not content with the win, sent VandeWelle on the attack as well, well Levarlet wasn;t having any of it, and went after him, catching him after a 8km chase up the mountain, bypassing many of the original break.
Three riders not caught on the climb were the ones chasing Jean, still 5 minutes behind him.
They would be caught however on the descent, not only by Levarlet and VandeWelle, but by Gomes as well.
Some of our other riders also decided the pack wasn't going to stop them, and so Malacarne and Brouzes went off as well.
Jean Mespoulede scored the result of his career this year, with a classy 2nd place.
Levarlet was pipped to the finish line by VandeWelle, but overtook the last breakaway rider.
Brouzes and Malacarne came in shortly afterwards.

It got me 5 continental points as its a 2.2 stage. How annoying! lol. I'm now trailing Agritubel by some 300 points and am 7th as teams keep scoring in the Tour of Portugal.

Stage 5 of the Volta a Portugal
A hilly route with a brutal kick right at the end should see the GC get its first real shake up of the tour, pre mountains.
Pioline decided he'd go in a break today, but couldn't even hold onto the other riders wheel, so ended up soloing in between for a fair while.
By the climb in the middle, Pioline had been brought back, and Edo, the other breakaway rider, had only 2minutes on the peloton. Had he looked up, he would have seen some dropped riders climbing what he had done but a few minutes previous.
His reign was soon over, but not before disastor struck for one of the main GC riders, Veloso fell on the descent, his bad portugese genes meaning he couldn't ride a bike very well...
Before long, the race hit the final 8km, all uphill, and Perez Cuapio immediately took off, causing an instant reaction from Barbosa, and Belkov, with Cobo and others in tow.
Belkov was looking very strong coming up to the finish, as other riders in his little group were breaking off, but a badly timed drink meant he didn't sprint, and the others came past him.
Barbosa won over Cobo who had managed to get past the Belkov group.
