Nice TT from Bahr
But a pity that Mellberg lost his podium place (still a good result overall though) |

Some great results I must say.
What is the current classification of our top riders and the team in the rankings? |

I still consider it as a good result, but with more luck the podium would be makeable.

Yeah the problem was effecting me, too. Thanks!

I will give you the info at the end of the month, because the overview is quite messy.

We have a really strong squad, here in Milano, with ALMOST every rider being capable of a top 10/20 finish. Our main leader here is Bahr, and Mellberg will be our co-leader.
Favorites:
*** Sagan, Boonen, Cancellara
**J-Rod, Bahr, EBH
* Greipel, Rojas, Hushovd
The MSR is the longest race in the calendar with it's 293.5kms. The steep climbs are there to harden the race, but overally, mainly the sprinters are the ones winning here. Let's see what happens in 2012.
This year's MSR kicked off pretty slowly, with a quite small break getting a big gap quite early. The biggest name was Ginnani, who was the best puncheur and the best sprinter of the group.
While the breakaway riders established themselves, the peloton was taking it slowly because of the toughness and the length of the race. Sky, Lotto and OPQS were the main teams controlling the gap, but they didn't work too hard.
As soon as we sneaked into the last 100kms, Team Sky decided to step up the pace, in order to bring back the break, and have a chance with possibly EBH for the win.
After Sky paced the peloton hard, the exhausted breakaway got caught easily. Sky kept a steady, but hard pace throughout the whole race, when we reached the last climb of the day, the Poggio.
Where simply nothing happened! Team SpiderTech took over the pace-making and the punchers didn't want to try their luck against the hard working canadian team. On the tricky descent of the Poggio, Team SpiderTech kept making the high pace, and no attacks came.
After the hard day, the Directour Sportif of the SpiderTech - Cervélo decided to let the guys go for themselves in the final sprint.
At the 3km mark our riders were in the front, and were waiting for the final sprint, and tried to get onto the others wheel. Let's see what our riders can do!
At the 1km mark, Clemson was leading the peloton, but Petacchi and Boasson Hagen were closing in fast! Our main sprinter Bahr was a bit behind and launched from EBH's wheel. Who will win it?
And the danish sprinter Christian Bahr wins it! What an amazing sprint, beating Boonen and Andre Greipel! The SpiderTech rider turned out to be the fastest of the sprinters, and took "La Primavera". The American youngster, John Clemson, took an 8th position after being in the lead in the sprint for a long time!
Sorry for the pictured results, forgot to export after the celebrating.
Here is Bahr on the podium, celebrating.
Bahr - 3 I think he deserves to get 3 points for winning the first monument of the team
Clemson - 1 Amazing finish by the youngster!

Thanks, yeah it was pretty much a domination, the top 20 was clearly dominated by us. And Van Der Valde is looking ready for the cobbled season. |

Near the end of the report, I had already forgotten what race it was (I'm very tired), but I was glad he won. Then I realized this wasn't just a stage somewhere, but Milan - San Remo, so then I thought:
great job |

@TheManxMissile - Yeah, Trentino is pretty far from now, but then you'll have the whole Giro to watch with Jack in focus (shared focus with Puskaric and Bahr ).
@fcancellara - Woohooooo! That's just what I said at the finish line.
@IanButler - Thank you! What a discover (well, the MSR is not just a single stage in .2 race. )! |

Thanks guys for the comments!
In the next few days (till Sunday) I'll be in a class tour, and I won't get to PCM until Monday. After this week, the reports will come in the same pace, as before.
Some infos on Catalunya: Our leaders in Spain are Solodvnikov and Gömböcz. Vitaliy's main peak is the Ardennes Classics, so he'll try to get some form there. Gömböcz is at his first peak, but isn't strong enough to be a leader. I'll also try to get into breaks, and give a chance to the lesser riders to shine. |

I'm back from my trip, but I have a lot to do now, and will get back into storywriting, either Today evening, either tomorrow afternoon. Let's see how my things work out, and then Catalunya will start. |

Volta a Catalunya Preview
The Volta a Catalunya is the 5th race of the season, and it's held in late March. It's usually a real hilly stage-race, with lots of possibilities to gain time on the others. The favorites will have to watch out for the others, because of the amount hills.
Our main leader here in Spain is our russian, Vitaly Solodovnikov, who is trying to get in form for the Ardennes Classics. Or co-leaders are Gömböcz and Clemson, who are both in top-form after the magnificent MSR results.
Startlist:
GC
*** Wiggins, Antón, Vandenbroeck
** Moreno, Kreuziger, Mollema
* Pinot, Martin, Cataldo
Sprints
*** Kittel, Swift, Boeckmans
** Bos. Pietropolli, Ciolek
* Oss, Simon, Matthews
And now, let's get back to racing! |
