Stage 2
Fleeman joined the break again, joined by Taylor Tolleson and David O'Loughlin.
Fleeman collected maximum KoM points again, but the 3 never stood a chance against the pack. Manan was better today but with 4km to go found himself displaced from Goss's wheel by race leader Marcato. Instead, Manan had to settle for Roberts.
Despite this disadvantage, Manan did well and managed a 3rd place and an imporant time bonus. Goss won, while Vanderaerden came 15th.

Stage 3
Fleeman has no need to attack today so we ignore the break and sure enough, it is caught. With 8km to go there is a small KoM and Pliuschin trys to use it to his advantage by attacking.
Despite support from Chavanel and Mollemma, the gap was not allowed to grow.
Pliuschin was passed with just over 1km to go and used the following technique to take 5th, as Borut Bozic took the stage, despite sprinting from the furthest way out.

Stage 4
Galway-Galway is the queen stage of the race and has 2 ascents of a very steep hill inside the final 15km.
Anuar Manan went with the breakaway due to an early sprint but couldnt even beat Lars Bak.
He dropped back to preserve energy but with a hill stat of 55 and a daily form of -4, he would end up losing 11 minutes today. So our hopes for the sponsor goal lie with Pliuschin which means attacking towards the finish. He made his move in between the 2 steep climbs and kept his momentum going as he battled the steep gradient.
Sella also attacked but later in the climb and as the road flattened out again, Pliuschin's gap grew.
And its a very impressive victory for the young Moldovan.
Hagen came in 2nd, some 50 seconds later and a stupid mistake from CSC saw Ljunqvist edge past Goss on the line, denying the Australian of bonus seconds that would have lifted him to 4th in the GC.

Thanks
And Smoothie, your achievement topic says the home grown hero is for a one day race - do stages count too then? If so, I'm eyeing up the Tour of Britain for that.

After stage 1 came numerous flat and hill stages before the final time trial. During which, the race was rocked by the high haematocrit values of Michael Elijken, Chris Anker Sorenson and Carlos da Cruz, aswell as a broken coccyx for Robbie McEwen.
Pozzato won the hill stage 2. Lowik won from a break in stage 3, before Haussler, Rodas and Boonen all won sprint stages. Jens Voigt won the hilly stage 7 and going into the time trial, Ballan holds a slender lead over the German.
Stage 8
Jamie Staff was the first to ride and set a decent time. 7th to start was Chris Hoy, who took great pleasure in catching and passing Mads Kaggestad.
Hoy took the lead and Matti Helminen made it a DFL 1-2-3, before Milram's Lancaster took the lead. Jens Mouris dis go 4th to make it a DFL 2-3-4-5 though.
Hoy would eventually finish 13th while an awesome ride by Evan Oliphant saw him take 17th and book his place at the Tour of Britain. Oliphant had increased to 69 TT during the race, thanks to his increase to level 4 experience.
Jens Voigt won the stage and the overall.

We may be continental leaders but the pressure is still on. Wiesenhof won one the french stage races and are within 100 points, while Panaria have moved within 300 points as Mazzanti won an Italian classic - and theres a lot more Italian one day races to come.
So we bring Aleksandr Pliuschin for his 51st race day of the season.
Dan Lloyd bridged up to the breakaway with 38km to test his legs and would be caught again with 25km to go. With around 12km to go, Lamonta's Hoffman attacked and got a gap, so with 8km to go as the riders reached the foot of Ldensheidsingel, Pliuschin attacked.
Pliuschin caught the Namibian at the top of the climb.
So, a Moldovan and a Namibian looking to hold off the break in a Belgian classic - you dont see that every day! Pliuschin came to the front and powered down the descent, up another hill, down that and then into the flat finish, and Hoffman was happy to let him.
They both have 66 sprint so it could be quite even as Pliuschin leads out and Hoffman appears to struggle
And yes, its going to be another win for Pliuschin!!

Schaal Sels - Merksem
An almost com completely flat race with some (but not loads of) cobbled sections. Frederik Nolf will lead with support from Nico Mattan. Nolf is looking to improve on his season best of 3rd at GP Herning and maybe grab that elusive win.
With Nolf now the much better cobbled rider, Mattan embraced his teammate role by hitting the front on the cobbled sections
The biggest rival today will probably be the future DFL rider Arnaud Coyot, who has had a disappointing season, bar a Tour de France stage win. He crashed midway through the race, but wasnt injured and got back to the front.
With 25km to go, Johann Vansummeren attacked and Nolf latched onto him with Nico Sijmens.
Nolf was by far the strongest attacker.
But after quickly gaining a red bar while maintaining a 20 second advantage, he dropped back to the other 2 to conserve a bit of energy.
These 3 would beat the peleton and Nolf is forced to lead out.
Sijmens is by far the best sprinter and begins to pull away.
Sijmens wins it, while Nolf takes his best result of the season so far with 2nd.

Its hard not to on cobbles when Nolf, 74 Cobbles, is one of the few riders who has 70 cobbles or more. And on hilly stages, there just isnt enough AI attacks, thats the games fault, not mine.

11 Brits will start the Tour of Britain, Hammond, House, Clancy, Manning, Thomas, plus DFL's Lloyd, Oliphant, Hoy, Staff, Stannard and Haynes (Ive sent an all-british team).
Sponsor goal Wear the leaders jersey for at least one day
Ever since January, Chris Hoy and Jamie Staff have been our prime riders for this race, with an opening prologue, it may be our only chance of completing the goal. Chris Hoy has timed his form perfectly and is ready to embrace the challenge
But ... Fabian Cancellara is riding  (Althoug Hoy did beat him in the Benelux prologue).
Cancellara beat Jamie Staff's time by 13 seconds.
Chris Hoy was soon on the course, a daily form of -2 isnt great but we dont know what Cancellara's daily form are actual form is. He races across the line and....
Evan Oliphant also came 7th in a great day for DFL.
A moment to savour! Thats our final sponsor goal complete, 4 out of 5, not bad!
