Yet, P Velits lost more time than Froome. An ominious sign.
I don't think Velits has what it takes uphill to ever become a genuine GC contender. Maybe another weak Vuelta... |

Oh, that's they guy who was more suited than Fuglsang for the TdF. But no, i don't know what happened. My guess would be that he hasn't ridden in a pretty long time.
And Ruben, I don't think you can judge Velits on that background. It's hard to tell what exactly happened and that Velits lost more than Froome doesn't necessarily mean that Velits isn't in shape, can't climb or whatever.

Damn, Sky got to wear those stupid yellow helmets again tomorrow
Is that why they're wearing them - they're leading the team competition or something?
It's taken me the best part of two years to start warming to Team Sky - them all showing up wearing yellow helmets today blew all my good will out of the water.
Yeah, it's in the rule book. New rule this year though, team classification leaders must wear yellow number and helmet.
According to Arvesen and Bruyneel, it's not obligatory, though. |

Well, Sky wrote :
Should point out this is a new directive from the ASO and not a team decision.
I guess as first team to get team classification they were really kinda encouraged / obliged to wear it and show ASO new initiative ( no mater how silly it looks )

I put a link to the ASO rule book earlier, it is very much obligatory.

edit: If anyone saw that, I made a right mess of making this post!

They needed an American rider for the American sponsor. |

Guess I'll have to cut Sky a bit of slack then.
Not against recognizing the leaders of the team classification in some way - but ASO have made a crazy decision in choosing yellow. That should be reserved for the race leader, imo. When I saw it, I thought someone at Sky had come up with some crazy marginal pyschological gain over Cadel Evans and huge disrespect to Cancellara at the same time......

The yellow helmet team classification thing did look ridiculous but was very useful to pick people out from the aerial shots. Got me thinking that distinctive team colours on helmets would be great, especially coupled with some national flags or large initials or some such to pin down individual riders. Never going to happen given advertising>all but still. |

Yeah, that was unlucky. And i dont know if he had some teammates to help him, probably not as Devenyns and Levi was in the front group and the rest caring about them. I hope he will get at least a nice stage placement at some point, maybe some crazy mountain attack like that one in 2008 queen stage.

It is fault of Cance that he is not able to ride the others off his wheel anymore, he is only giving the leadouts and riders like Sagan or EbH are strong enough to hold behind him and fool him.
Today final will be interesting, lets see what top speed Cav has now and how Sagan will show at the flat, but he may save himself for tommorow, which is better for him profile-wise.

I think the helmets are nice, it's easy to keep an overview of the best team that way. Every time we got a wider shot, you could see all those bright yellow helmets |

Grats to Sagan, he obviously deserved it.
On the flip side though, if I were Cancellara in that case, I would've just hit the brakes. I can't stand getting beaten by such a gay ass tactic in PCM lol. |
