For Cav' , Sky's Giro was dedicated to him and he fails to win the sprinters jersey. This year Cav seems to be easily beatable.( Kittel , Greipel , Ferrari , Boom , Guardini , etc )
Lol, you should applaud Cav for finishing the Giro And if you din't notice before, check who won Points at Giro in 2009, 2010 and 2011
Nice trolling
Oh come on ffs
Maybe not applaud, but he finished the whole Giro. Many abandoned, but he made it through
Even many very negative users on cyclingews about Cav gave praise in his appreciation/depreciation thread

I do think it's good that he decided to stay in the race, it's a good effort by Cavendish. But he completed a race, that's it, let's not make a huge accomplishment out of this just because it's Cavendish who did it.

I think Cav's having a good season.
Finishing that Giro as one of the only sprinters was a good thing of him, I was impressed. Though Rodriguez deserved the jersey just as much, imo.
You can't expect a sprinter to win every sprint, not possible.
He's doing good. |

Another thing now,
What about Frank Schleck, huh?
I know there are many TT kms, but looking at how he's doing, and not have to support his brother, I consider him a dangerous outsider if not a favorite. I'm pretty sure he'll attack in the mountains, he could take minutes htere. |

Re: the points jersey 2 crashes proved crucial at the Giro in the end but pleased for Purito to have a little compensation for losing it on the TT after such a good ride.
Results in the Tour and the Olympics will be the judge of Cav's season but will be interesting to see whether the weight loss = better climbing but loses some top end.
Also you know you're a half decent sprinter when all you managed to do is win 3 stages in a GT...

I think everyone is sleeping on Frank. He's my pick to win the Tour. It will come down to the time trials, he has to limit his losses to the other favorites, but I thought his Tour de Suisse TT was decent. He has to go on the attack in the mountains to put time on Evans, Wiggins, and the other favorites. |

There are people with a lot more cycling knowledge than me on this board so a couple questions.
First it seems like stage 11 could be a way for the top climbers to pick up huge time with almost no flats with 2 HC climbs and mountain top finish and it comes after a pretty tough day.
Does the fact that they have the last high mountain day before the final TT, compel the less skilled TT's to attack or is that at least the thought?
Also why dont we see mountain TT's anymore for me those seem like the most exciting stages of them all and really have some good drama.

That's the thought behind it, definitely. They don't know how much time they need to make up so those who aren't good at a TT must be aggressive to give themselves as much of a buffer as they can, and also to put the TT riders into trouble so that they might ride the TT less well due to being tired.

They are still around. Paris-Nice had one this year and the Giro had one last year. They can be exciting, but personally I think that the flat TT makes the race better because the pure climbers are thus forced to make up time elsewhere.

That's the intention
Whether that'll happen, a whole other business.
PS Cav may finish Tour, if he doesn't feel it's killing him, he'll finish it.

https://www.wieler...et-zitten/ (must be somewhere in English as well)
Fränk says he doesn't want to be RSNT's leader for the Tour. He said Contador failed last year as well after riding the Giro, so he probably do the same.
Lol@comparing Schleck's 2012 and Contador's 2011 Giro though

Oh, come on, admit it: hadn't it been for that scarred elbow, he would've massacred Hesjedal & the guys in the mountains. |

It's in dutch but for you that isn't a problem
Strange news about Schleck, I think it's just an excuse, he doesn't want the pressure, maybe. |

Yeah, really strong, Gesink & LL Sanchez are quite capable riders.
Renshaw's quite good, too.
Nice selection |

Looks like Sky and Rabobank will be dominating the pace making in the mountains. with both of them bringing such strong teams they could really make the tour boring by not letting attacks happen.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring.

Yeah or maybe they could let Mollema or Kruijswijk go and make the race the exact opposite. Looking really forward to the Tour this year. |

Hoogerland stated his goal for the coming Tour de France is the polka dots. Expect him to be in the breakaway in about 15 stages or so. |

He could do it
I think he should be able to take the jersey home, at least we'll see some action from him |

Hoogerland winning the polka dots would feel like justice after last year.
An immensely strong team from Rabobank and just more proof of the depth of talent they have.
