My thoughts exactly. I see him,in a couple of years, joining Rabobank's elite group of young supertalents that despite being incredibly talented, will never actually win anything in the big stage.

No doubt that Schleck suffered today.
Who the hell still considers Cunego a favourite? After all these years of consecutive failures in GTs, I still can't believe that there's still someone who can consider him a man for the GC.

Because he's the best of the Tour finishers last year apart from Frank Schleck, who is here. |

Well he was 6th in the Tour. That's the best of an Italian since Birillo 2005, but he (Basso) had an Spanish engine.

Actually I was really happy with his ride today. His usual weakness are those climbs like today where he usually lost quite a lot compared to day. In 3rd week you can easily win minutes so loosing so little today is quite good for him.

Still not as bad as it could've been. If they'd have gone full gas already on the first part of the climb, he'd have dropped much earlier and probably lost a minute, if not more. He's too much of a pure climber to survive these hills.
Nevertheless, it was expected. He'll bounce back in the big mountains.
EDIT: As already explained by Alakagom.

That has nothing to do with his climbing ability. Let Rujano start within the first 20 and he would not lose time.
I've watched closely and he started the climb in 70th position. Midway through he was in 35th position, and at the end he was what, 20-something?
He just can't position himself and because Androni is seriously weakened (Sella, Serpa, Rubiano all injured or sick), he has no help either.
Rujano still lost only 2'30 to most contenders and 3' to rodriguez (who himself is incosistent in the mountains anyway). So it's going better than expected |

I'm happy that Hesjedal didn't lose a ton of time! Top 10 is still possible hopefully, just sad to see the Maglia rosa go so soon
Then again, he's been doing these climbs without any team support, by the looks of it.

I also think that we need to wait when real mountains come and climbers will warm up.
Pozzovivo and Purito great speed is not surprise..both was in great shape before Giro. Will they survive also 3rd. week..realy dont know

Haha idiot... Even the oldest of the 'golden' generation of talents is only 27 (Thomas Dekker). You talk like they are at their max/end of career already lol. They are still only at the start. But you'll have your mouth shut in the coming years. All it takes is patience for me |

I don't come down either side on this, but you're talking with a little too much certainty to cover your back if they don't live up to the hype...

Yep, all of them. It's only a matter of time until Niels Scheunemann and Kai Reus start winning 70 races per season each.

I made the bet, in begin of Giro, and he is leader of Rabobank, Garaté is good but is not guaranteed him to do something like top 20, or something like that, maiory of young cyclist are gregarious, except for some like Urán, Henao, why not Kennaugh or one Colnago, like Locatelli and Brambilla.

Notice a pattern?
Specifically guys who were doped up to the gills as u-23s and their bodies were done at an early age?
You forgot the best example btw, Popovych

Don't want to put my hand in the beehive here, but ironically the first thing that comes to my mind is Thomas Dekker. |

255k and more or less all headwind. Tough stage today. Group of six ahead. 2 slow first hours. Gap stays around 5 minutes at the moment, sprinter teams definately interested in getting a bunch sprint, altough some tough turns again in the final, will be interesting. |
