That's just a coincidence...

Face criminal charges after a Belgian environmental group saw them throw away bottles/rubbish on the road side, at the Fleche. It's ilegal under walloon law.
File under STUPID.
Its as bad as when some dutch religious fanatics protested against races (was it a GT stage) going through their town on Sunday.

Call me a tree hugger but i don't see anything wrong in creating some awareness. If it results in more teams using bio degradable bottles and less rubbish thrown on the road sides when it doen't need to, why not. You should see what some amateurs that think they're racing a pro tour race when training throw away around here. When they just aswell can put it in their back pockets as i do.
Btw, thumbs up for Frei, at least he's being honost unlike some other pro riders (no names ;P) |

50/50 on Frei turning around tomorrow or it being reported that he didn't say any of those things. |

Stumbled upon Taylor Phinney's Twitter-account today:
Just woke up... Not so happy about LBL results. (...) Vino is a doper and needs to go away.
He then replies to this tweet: "im not sure totally how @taylorphinney can be anti doping yet ride under the banner of the texan. is that irony? should have gone to garmin"
to which he replied:
i'm sorry has this Texan ever tested positive? I didn't think so...
1) "This Texan" did test positive
2) In his current 'form or shape', Vinokourouv is not a doper. If we were to use Phinney's own definition of clean: After his suspension, did Vinokourov test positive? No.
I'm not defending Vino - I just find Phinney unbelieveably hypocritical.

Someone needs to reply to Phinney
"Yes. 7 times. 6 for EPO, one for cortico.
PS: your father defended dopers in his days. explain that you hypocrite"
I actually came close to answering him the other day when he made a similar comment about the Trentino podium. It's not that I don't agree with him. It's just that he's a massive hypocrite

Other than the EPO tests (retrospective testing), it's a fact that Armstrong tested positive for corticoids in 1999. |

Maybe the question should be: who wouldn't have tested positive for samples taken in 1999 ? |

That's not what we're discussing, though. Surely, a huge part of the peloton would.

His argument for defending Armstrong is a bit pathetic, but nothing we're not used to.
I'd love to try and see him defend Leipheimer, though.

Wasn't it for something that he used to cure a saddle sore ? |

Armstrong had a medical prescription by UCI (like any other rider) to use a cream that contains corticoids to cure a skin allergy.
You may not like the man (Armstrong) but after his return, the interest and popularity in cycling have increased. Compare the crowds and TV-ratings in TdU, TdF 2008 with the 2009 editions and you will see a major difference.

Armstrong said that he did not have any TUEs for any product. He then tested positive and got a TUE, dated back. Also, it was later revealed that, at the same time, he 'donated' money to UCI to 'fight doping'.
Doesn't change the fact that he tested positive for a product that he - at that time - wasn't allowed to use.
I agree, though, that sponsor wise and for the regular viewers, Armstrong's good for the sport. I've never said differently. |

Lance Armstrong, before the prologue, to journalist Pierre Ballester:
"I have no TUEs to declare. None."
Kevin Livingston, running into the room where Armstrong was getting a massage, the day of the prologue, as testified by US Postal soigneur Emma O'Reilly:
"F***! They came up with a new test for cortico. They're going to start testing"
Lance Armstrong, after testing positive for corticosteroids:
"Yeah, I suddenly remembered I have a TUE for that"
He said he used a cream to treat a saddle sore......except the test can differentiate quite easily between different applications of cortico. Those applied through a cream don't trigger a positive.
The TUE was backdated. But the Festina scandal and the Pantani scandal had wrecked cycling's image. The fans were lost. People needed a hero. Pantani had been that hero and had been busted.
And just as the FIA did with Schumacher in 1994 after Senna died, the UCI let Armstrong get away with it despite solid evidence of cheating, because soiling the reputation of the new hero would kill off the sport's image beyond immediate repair.
Shortly afterwards, Armstrong made a very large "voluntary" donation to the UCI of half a million dollars.
Yes, you read that right. An athlete "just gave" the UCI half a million dollars out of the goodness of his heart. Right

Can you show us a valid source confirming this?
Isso is the valid confirmation.
