Prologue. Palerme
It was standart prologue. 5.8 km on the flat relief. Of course, no one from our team wasn't big prologue specialist. Our best placed rider today was Ilya Gorodnychev, who finished 21th with 23 seconds lag.
I finished 34th
And first race leader became (yes, you got it!) Swedish TT champion, Gustav Eric Larsson.
Stage and GC:
1 | Gustav Erik Larsson | Team Saxo Bank | 7'57 | 2 | Janez Brajkovič | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 7 | 3 | Rubén Plaza | Caisse d'Epargne | + 8 | 4 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 15 | 5 | Rémy Cusin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | + 18 | 6 | Tom Danielson | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | 7 | Timofey Kritskiy | Team Katusha | s.t. | 8 | Stefan Schumacher | Vorarlberg - Corratec | s.t. | 9 | Marcel Sieberg | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 10 | Alfredo Balloni | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 19 |

Larsson somehow manages to live up to his stats in Giro, in my carrers he usually sucks
Can't wait for mountains, I think you can get nice bonuses on stages without mountaintop finish.
Oh, could you give an overview of all Giro stages

Stage one. Palerme - Barcelona
Nobody expected successful breakaway today and of course, it wasn't. The stage was made in sprint. But the sprint by itself was no-organized and main favorites (with Ginanni in that list) were down in group. The victory went to Matt Goss.
In GC weren't any changes today.
Stage results:
1 | Matthew Goss | Team HTC - Columbia | 4h38'47 | 2 | Oscar Gatto | Team Katusha | s.t. | 3 | Alessandro Petacchi | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 4 | Diego Milán | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 5 | Vladimir Gusev | Rabobank | s.t. | 6 | Robert Förster | Team Milram | s.t. | 7 | Jens Voigt | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 8 | Alexandr Kolobnev | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 9 | Gustav Erik Larsson | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 10 | Mauricio Ardila | Rabobank | s.t. |

Stage two. Reggio Calabria - Vibo Valentia
First stage with any relief, but everyone expected bunch sprint here.
We were made very active tactics today. Right from the start Kostya Sivtsov tried to get to breakaway, and in spite of being very close in GC (well, who isn't close now?) his group was left in front, so they worked hard and at stage finish Sivtsov have got his prize jersey of Grand Premia Montagna
Of course, the break group was chased down and on the last climb it was "gruppa compatto" as Italians saying. With on km to hill top Frederik Kessiakoff attacked. He made good gap and we were very scared about him, as he made good prologue, he could even became new GC leader.
Of course, sprinters' teams should been chase him, but with not very easy climb sprinters themselves didn't feel good, so the group was disorganized again. With that, Swed's chances to win a stage were very big.
But there was one thing. Only 5 km from climb top to the finish, and even with slow speed, the bunch couldn't get much lag. So, when the sprint started, Kessiakoff was just few meters ahead.
In main peloton today it was only one force - out ream. In spite of being without helpers, Ginanni and me we both sprinted very good and crossed the line in one moment with Kessiakoff, who was unlucky to be caught with two meters to finish.
Three riders in one line! That was fantastic! And... who do you think had won?
It was Ginanni! Good work for him!
I finished second and gained some bonus seconds, which helped me to became best placed favorite.
Stage results:
1 | Francesco Ginanni | Androni Giocattoli | 3h43'41 | 2 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 3 | Fredrik Kessiakoff | Garmin - Transitions | s.t. | 4 | Mirco Lorenzetto | Team Katusha | s.t. | 5 | René Mandri | AG2R La Mondiale | s.t. | 6 | Jens Voigt | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 7 | Alessandro Petacchi | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 8 | Julien El Fares | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | s.t. | 9 | Alexandr Kolobnev | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 10 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. |
GC:
1 | Gustav Erik Larsson | Team Saxo Bank | 8h30'25 | 2 | Janez Brajkovič | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 7 | 3 | Rubén Plaza | Caisse d'Epargne | + 8 | 4 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 15 | 5 | Fredrik Kessiakoff | Garmin - Transitions | s.t. | 6 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 16 | 7 | Stefan Schumacher | Vorarlberg - Corratec | + 18 | 8 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. | 9 | Rémy Cusin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | s.t. | 10 | Tom Danielson | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. |
