Tour?
Then I dont understand Astana at all..Contador, Armstrong, Levi..who is the leader?
Exactly, I don't get it either. They always say that they will "ride for the strongest," and they all aim to be in top form for the Tour. Which leaves them with nothing to show in the Giro, which they for sure could have gotten a podium in if they would have focused someone's season on it. |

Other than that, yeah, you pretty much got the gist of Bruyneel's teams.
I'll agree that Popovych is for sure in top form, and I thought Horner was too probably, but I didn't think that Levi was. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Lance originially was to be the leader (before his collarbone break) but was still using the Giro as a tune up for the Tour, it seems unlikely that Levi would be slated to be in top form in May.
The climbing power he's showed so far in this Giro is at his threshold. It's the highest he's ever showed, tied with the 2007 Tour.

Fair enough. It has, and will be a long season for him then.

Yeah, he seems to be right on track for July. Should be interesting. |

Blockhaus is shortened.
The new climb ends just before Rif. Pomilio

Nope, not just before Rifugio Pomillio. It ends 6.1kms before the top of Blockhaus. That's 6.1 kms less than was supposed.
More importantly, the only sections left aren't very steep. Time differences are unlikely.

Too bad
I was hoping for another stage where Basso and Sastre attacks early and Sastre wins, but now that won't happen. Probably a more suited stage for Di Luca now.... I feel this Giro is very well suited for Di Luca, we have only had one real mountainstage, and Blockhaus is now shortened, the only mountain stage left is up to Vesuvio. The time trial was also a hilly one with technical decents.
I feel they are trying to make this Giro good for Di Luca, but still, he hopefully won't win |

When the route was announced, people said it was tailor made for Armstrong |

You want a route designed for someone in mind? This year's Tour route is the only grand tour course I've ever seen in my entire life that completely eliminates Contador's biggest weakness.

I saw the highlight of today's stage. To see Menchov dropping away Di Luca on (uphill?) sprint confirms my predictions, Menchov is just too relaxed, in control, and strong enough to win this Giro, as he has shown in the last several days, and week(s). |

I do not know why people have said it was a route for Lance, a lot of hilly stages, with short, steep climbs.
I think this years route is very well designed for Di Luca, probably I'm wrong, that may be because I don't like Di Luca, but still, I think the route is designed for him, or another good puncheur with a decent big-mountain capacity, like Cunego in top shape.
But that's only my opinion... |

yeap, I agree that it is for Di Luca.
Di Luca's only obstacle this year is Menchov

He is not an obstacle, he is a wall!
Menchov is riding great in this Giro.
Still hoping for Di'Luca to climb "the wall" tough |

Nobody else can return. Leipheimer was not in enough good shape.
Pellizoti, Basso, Amstong, Sastre... all of them where too much back in overall to hope for be in pink at Rome. |
