@ian: Wrote this in the NC thread:

I got to say, the Norway NC were a fantastic race to watch the final of; much more than riding the first laps myself. Reminds me very much, of what I've heard, of the american NC RR earlier this season. A bunch of pros getting owned by smaller national teams. Rider after rider and group after group attacked from the peloton, and Kristoff, Nordhaug etc could not do anything about it. Whoever could win the race, and about 60 riders in total were in front of the bunch throughout the race.
Odd Eiking (Joker) and Fredrik Galta (Østerhus) attacked from a smaller breakaway on the final hill, and could not agree for the pacing. Then Vegard Breen (Lotto) dragged the two strong sprinters Filip Eidsheim (FixIt.no) and Galtas teammate Tormod Hausken (Østerhus). After several attacks by Breen in the final kilometres the group stopped completely, and in the final kilometre Reidar Borgersen (Joker) got to the group and immediately attacked. He ended up launching the sprint, where Hausken were superior. His victory is already praised by norwegian media as the most surprising champion through history.
For me it was a tough day. Heavy wind is never good for me, and it destroyed my chances already on the first lap. Got through 3 out of 8 laps, and ended up as 114th out of 174. Hope for better races with more hills in the autumn summer.

Hope this is an acceptable answer
@Luigi: It will take a while to get god enough for the daily db I suppose Right now is my MO-stat 53/54, hill 52 and the rest 50, so it won't be fun for me seeing myself in the db for now...

Closed road cycling is a lot of fun! 50km this morning, all on the Tour de France route for today's stage https://app.strava.com/activities/1618.../161881933
It included the first real climb of the race through Addingham. It may not be a KoM climb, but should stretch the peloton a bit, especially after having ridden the 30km prior to that in a headwind. Have to admit though, the descent of that climb on the way back was more fun, except when I almost hit a dog

Perfect ride for the morning of the stage. I'm jealous, would love to experience some closed circuit riding myself. |

What kind of cycling computer/gps do you guys have?
Is it Worth putting some extra Money to buy a Garmin Edge 510 or saving some Money and get a cheaper Sigma f.ex.?
Beside every standard things I want a computer/gps with cadence...

Belatedly spotted this post. No experience with anything other than Garmin. On that note if you want mapping go 800 otherwise I've found a 500 to be great. The main addition of the 510 or 810 units, as I remember it, is live ride tracking for friends.
Personally I don't need mapping nor want live ride tracking so the 500 was perfect for me.
Never really saw the long term benefit of a cadence sensor as you pretty much know what 70, 80 or 90 rpm feels like after a bit - I imagine it becomes irrelevant quite quickly?
Personally I used to work out my cadence roughly from my timer and counting the revolutions for 15 or 20 seconds then multiplying and before long I knew exactly when my cadence was getting too low or too high. There on in you just feel it and adjust your gearing as necessary. Obviously I'm not exactly a pro so I might be missing something here
What I am thinking of purchasing, out of idle curiosity and because it's cheap, is a heart rate monitor. Not planning on a meaningful training regime just interested to see what my heart rate does during a ride really |

Both quality shoes but my housemate has the Mavics and absolutely loves them, try on both if you get the chance but I doubt you could go wrong with either shoe

Hey guys!
I'm traveling to Slovenia tomorrow, to the town Bovec. I wonder, if anyone of you have been in that region before and if yes, then how are the cycling opportunities there? It seems like there will be place for my bike too on the family car, so it would be a great opportunity to get some kilometers in my legs. Any advices where to ride or something like that? |

Hi, could i ask you a question?
My old bike is broken(over 25 years old(older than me ))
And I am only 18 years of age and i do not have much money, so do any of you know a road bike which is pretty ok but not too expensive? I think i have to buy a used one, but maybe someone of you even knows a site, where to buy used bikes.
My english isn't that good, so i hope that you've understood.
Thank you
Paul

Paul, personally I wouldn't buy second hand bike (or even stuff in general) you don't know what happend to it or if it's even save to use. cheapest real race bike I've seen (in a store however) around 700 euros

Gone to bed at like 4:30 - 5:00 am this morning (like usual on holidays) and tried to catch some sleep, but I was sweating so much for no apparent reason that I just gave up after like 20 minutes. Took a quick 5 min shower after that, cooled down a bit and gone for a ride...
...and all I can say is that it's an unbeliavable feeling. Despite the fact that I already did this same thing few times, it's just crazily great over and over again, no matter how many times you do that. It wasn't specifically a long ride, nor anything fast/amazing in any terms, just a calm ride with my old bike, but yet, it was lovely and so enjoyable. And what's most important - I do feel much better now, even despite not sleeping whole night, but who cares about that anyways. Cycling is indeed the beatiful sport and generally a thing for relaxation.

I must be watching too much Eurosport but I actually find https://www.bruege... pretty decent for a webstore. Though I prefer my local bikeshop, I think brügelmann's pricse are reasonable and they are even on sale right now. A decent race road bike for 500, it won't get cheaper than that. City Crossbikes even cheaper. Like Luigi, I'd say you should buy a new one. It's not only about the quality and what happened to the bike, but also about your own body. Take your measurements (Schrittlänge) and type it in.
However, if you really really to save some hundred euros, I guess placse like ebay or so are best for that.

There is nothing better than going for a ride just as the day starts to wake up , the birds are just starting to make a noise, there is a mist over the fields and there are hardly any cars to dodge, mmmmmmm nice |

Getting back on the bike after a long spell off it is always tough, but it sounds like you enjoyed it |
