Great race today, I think it was the best of the race so far, especially because I got to watch the entire thing (its memorial day here in the US). I celebrated with the best game of PCM 1 I've every played, and a bike ride.
Tough luck for Levi though, now my hope is for Menchov to win.

I thought it was fun to see Levi go down. Good thing for him that he got saved by his team mates.
I think everyone understand you are just trying to make arguments Setzel. Since people are on to you by now you can just stop and maybe even leave. Thank you for posting though. |

well I don't like the Kazachs from the team, Contador, Armstrong, Horner, Leipheimer, Popovych, Zubeldia almost no one except maybe Kloden.
Just because I feel like being annoying , here goes:
There's only one Kazakh on that team. What you mean is you don't like the Kazakhstanis on the team .
Kazakh is an ethnicity. Kazakhstani is a nationality.
That concludes the annoying portion of our tour.

If Menchow wins the Giro then he only need tour de france for winning all the three grand tours, should be easy for him |

Come on - Di Luca worked today after Sastre went! Menchov should work to win the jersey
Don't tell me menchov sucks because he is just a "pathetic" rider who just does wheelsucking to win a Giro that he worked his butt off ! ?
This is call strategy.
Consider:
1) Why would Menchov attack when he had in the same group two explosive climbers (Sastre and Di Luca)...That will be suicidal.
2) Menchov did counter many attacks, which prove that he was fighting for the jersey and also to short the distance to the finish line. After some counters he probably notice that he couldn't hang on with everybody as Satre and Di Luca were showing a great performance.
3) Di Luca is a very good climber (just watch how he caught Basso and didn't lose much time to Sastre) with an explosive attack. In the begining of the ascent Di Luca (the real treat) wait and wait, when the others attacked, behind the four members' group to lunch his attack and never been caught. He could probably be joined by Sastre if that happened.
When Di Luca did attack, he almost suceed.
4) Menchov is the best TT and he knew that Di Luca will work to catch Basso and Sastre.
Great victory for Sastre!
I'm not a Menchov fan, i was just amazed how few decisions which could cost him a great penalty in time, turn to be the best option. (Besides Di Luca is a very smart rider). |

Sastre is hardly an explosive climber... He is a stayer, some would call him a wheel sucker. He is a great climber, but he rarely attacks. |

I don't see how anyone can blame Menchov for what he did yesterday. It was brilliant. He knew he had to stay with Di Luca, Leipheimer was gone, Basso and Sastre were way down the GC - and the best of it: Di Luca worked for him to reel in Basso and Sastre.
I saw someone compare this with Evans, saying it's the same situation: No way. Whenever Menchov's only rival, Di Luca, attached, he easily countered. When Evans' rival(s) attacked, he didn't or couldn't counter-attack and just sat back. To start off with, he didn't even want to work. |

Menchov has had enough good lieutenant's (Dekker, Boogard, Rasmussen) to win a TdF..somehow he always fails there..TdF is not for Denis Menchov.
What is super team doing anyway..nothing..look at Astana Giro lineup..quite impressive..and they wont get nothing..not even podium spot.
Has Menchov-Ruben talking today..that he just let Sastre go..and that wont happens again..bla-bla.
He countered yesterday after first 3 atack..and that was it. After that he was changed man (opened a mouth a little..)..then Sastre atacked, then Basso just ride away..Di Luca missed that moment...and also changed a tactic.
Di Luca pulled so fast inside last 2 km.

Finnaly we can put an end to any debate that lovkvist will ever be a 3 week Tour Rider ..pfiu !
Menchov master of wheel sucking today...Sastre at the 13 percent was DEAD .... the jesus camed and resurected him =)
So for sure menchov will win Giro , All he needs is a TdF win if he makes the same preparation for Tdf next year and rabo signes 1 good lieutanant will have a big chance.
Sign a good lieutanant? They already have 1 very good lieutanant. He goes by the name of Robert Gesink, 23 years old, was 7th in the Vuelta last year...
sure he's a good lieutenant and will be a good leadr but look at astana and csc and so on. that's the kind of team you want backing you.
yeah but who likes Astana? Nobody.
that was far from the point of my post

It's funny to see so many people talking about Menchov's "usual bad day" when he's only ever had one, 4 whole years ago at the Vuelta
Which, by the way, was due to the thunderstorms. Meanwhile the weather now italy is very hot and dry.

Nah, he just had one really good day in the pyrenees. Then he was consistently not up to the task in the alps.

I don't understand why people are making debate at Menchov. When you have the advantage Menchov has on GC, why attacking, using your legs for nothing but some seconds ? useless
He'll win the Giro, because he's the strongest, and the only one able to respond to every dangerous attack
And you can't compare him with Evans, for one simple reason : Menchov has the leader jersey in 3rd week, whereas Evans had not

Rewatched the final kilometers : Poor Basso, all attacks for nothing.
If Armstrong hasn't an injury, or some problems, he'll be for sure impressive in TdF. He's recovering his old legs.
Also, are there wattages somewhere, please ?
