I guess option 2 is best than, but it's up to you in my opinion, it's your story! |

How about Stijn explores his horizons a bit? See how far he can get in races like Amstel, he should like the new finish (if you have it).
I mean he's 3/3 on monuments for now, maybe he should go for all 5 during his carreer.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I mean like going down 5-10 stats, and not able to race(?) in a 1/4 a year

Bullshit 84 is way too low after getting that win from P-R, but I like you to lower his stats a bit, so he wins something and is a big outsider next to Spartacus and Boonen in classics, but it would be cool to see him win the green jersey in TDF, so the sprint stat shall not be lowered. Oh yeah and a cheeseburger with a McFlurry in or on the burger! Yeah that's right. Mix it all up to those litlle bastards of fat they are!

Personally a serious and slow to recover from problem caused by the intensity of this season start, he may well not race again until Eneco or similar and when he comes back it will take him a long time to recover to his former self "If he ever does"
Kindah reminds me of Philippe Gilbert, whose just never touched his former glories since that beautiful week in the hilly classics?

That's what I thought as well. Maybe he loses some of his punch, but he showed what he can do with sustainable efforts. So maybe he indeed goes into a Voeckler-like direction and targets the hilly classics...

2 or 4 for me, but please don't make him weaker There comes a year (hopefully later than sooner) that Sagan will rule the classics irl, now it's just Stijn

Option 5. He was found doping and was suspended.
Just kidding, option 2 definitely the best.

None of those options seem brilliant...
1 would be good with a new rider, not taking the established guy down at this age. If Stijn was 30+ maybe...
2 is best, but doesn't solve the underlying problem of Stijn being all 85's.
3 is just a terrible idea with no logic behind it, unless he retires after one or two seasons.
4 makes the most sense, don't change what isn't broken, but again fails to address the reasons why you want a change
If it was me (and i will eventually get there with Karl...) i would build in some actual story behind any change, probably doping. From there i would drop his stats down a decent chunk and then have to work him back up over three or four seasons, culminating in one big win (well there goes a massive hint as to Karls future
Or start a new short story until PCM13 comes out... maybe a team story

Wow, thanks for the massive input here. Many great ideas but unfortunately they can't all be used. (Unless Stijn can clone himself, we'll save that for later).
I like the idea of going in a different direction, but that would be odd at the same time. It's like Froome, one of the world's best GT riders, would suddenly say: I'm concentrating on Paris - Roubaix now. When you're the best in what you do, it would seem so odd to change. Though changing Stijn's emphasis and goals gradually over the years seems nice. I still feel he has things left to conquer in the classics work.
Losing a bit of that punch for some more uphill work might be possible, though! Might even be better in the long run, concering Points Jerseys in grand tours. A type à la Ventoso, but better. Than I'd just have to find the new Amstel profile and he has a new goal
For now, though, he's just out of competition for a while and I'll pick it up when I've decided. It's Willy's time now! No stats have been lowered so far, but I did already up some stats from other riders.
Anyway, thanks for the input, best way to keep this story going is to compromise between what you want and what I want |

I must say that I won RvV with Froome after a year of training on this

Also, Stijn has the best team this year, giving him worse team mates will lower his chances of winning next year.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I was also thinking to give you idea to do something, since this started to be,quite boring.
Option 2 or changing his team/injurying him (put all his stats -5 and not race for half a year or something) will be cool.
It's your story,it's on you. I think you made mistake with high potential at the start, but yeh,we're 148 pages far from that. |
