I saw De Gendt a couple of weeks ago, that was cool, too. He was going damn fast, though |

I believe I'm almost old enough to rely on my judgement and not my mother's.
So... I was 3 minutes early at the meeting point. I waited. Waited. Waited again. Sent a message on Strava. Started riding around the block towards where I thought they'd be coming from. Went back to the waiting point. Waited. Rode around the block again, and eventually found them there, 45 minutes late.
Not much to say, it was cool and we got heavy downpours that stopped later when I let them. 3 triathletes, plus the girl who's come second at the duathlon world championships last year. We passed many segments but didn't go for any of them.
At some point water projections reached my eyes, passing above or below my glasses, and my eyes got itchy. Very itchy. So much that I couldn't keep them open for a while and they were apparently totally red. I didn't notice it, but one of the guy said he saw marks of gasoil or gasoline on the road before. Might explain. It took me 20 minutes or so to get my sight back. It had never happened to me before.
Meanwhile, R. Hardy from Cofidis, who lives in the neighbourhood, has apparently decided to use Strava for all his rides. My KOM list is shrinking.

It is crazy just how fast the can move and not just that but maintain it for long periods, can't really judge it on the TV but when you see them ride in real life it's mental.
I am still suffering from my little injuries, the foot is the main issue but not a lot I can do about it, I use my bike for commuting to and from work and at work I'm on my feet so it's just going to take time. Missed out on some rides which is frustrating because the rest of the body feels great

Pure envy here.
Give me fat guys over pros any day, they make me feel much better about myself!
Perhaps the odd pro going the other way's ok - me going down them going up, that sort of thing |

I think I once saw a belkin rider, but can't prove it so it was just a random rider with a belkin outfit

KOMs / CRs
Jeffrey De Celestia has no KOMs.

getting overtaken by pros is at least a 100 times as better then some fat guy imo.

Heh, I'm an optimist, the point is there is just a chance they won't fly past me or I'll even fly past them...possibly. |

I never saw him on a bike, but he caught my father, and we ride on the same Strava segments, so Jeremy Bescond (Cofidis) rides in my parents' neighbourhood at times.
I saw a guy in a Cofidis kit a few months ago around here. I thought it was Julien Simon but one of the guy I rode with yesterday told me Simon moved places, so it was most likely Romain Hardy, not using Strava yet. He's still around and murdering my KOM list.
There used to be Ronan Pensec who trained a lot around my parents, and later had a cyclosportive held around our place.
Laurent Madouas was our "godfather" rider in the cycling section we were in, so we saw him, but not on a bike, and the due common ride never happened. JC Robin was supposed to replace him the next year but we never saw him.
Many guys ride around, wearing Sojasun kits, but when they're riding the other way it's hard to tell whether it's tourists with kits, or guys from the feeder teams, or pros with their former kits (or their actual kits until last year), as some lived around here.
JM Bideau also rides around my parents' place, but I've never seen him train (or recognized him) since he's turned pro.
I guess you'd better live near Cannes/Monaco, or Canary / Balears, or Tuscany, or Flanders to see plenty of famous pros at work.

JC Robin in the group would have been pretty cool I guess. Was great seeing him and Rinero at le Tour 1998.
When it comes to seeing riders besides a race, I have to think off immediately of Gerrit Glomser, who beasted up my local climb (never seen someone going into a climb so fast, probably wanted to show off to us little kids on the bike ). He was still with Saeco back then. Currently, there's also Stefan Denifl and Zoidl around, and since I've seen both jerseys multiple times I imagine it's them. I'm pretty sure with Zoidl since he even posted an Instagram pic of his route that day. Then of course, there's a whole bunch of guys from Team Tirol Cycling, whom I catch rare glimpses of now and then, however since a lot of amateurs and fun cyclists are riding in those jerseys, I can't tell if they belong to the team for real or not.
On another note: Strydz in weekly Top 3 of climbing & elevation despite injury... impressive!

Double post, sorry for that.
Something pretty bad happened to me last night, but I forgot to share it here. After I rode few tens of kilometers in last month I started getting into the shape (as that was my comeback from 1,5 year injury-pause). However, I had to stop cycling for some time because of all of this shit about flooding, landslides and earthquakes in Serbia. Yesterday, we played some football on PE and I somehow managed to renew my knee injury once again (jumped and just felt huge pain when landed). This is just ridiculous. Apparently, I'll have to be passive around 6 next months to heal it a bit. Otherwise, if I somehow manage to injury the same area once again, it can become way more serious.
Fuck my luck, just fuck it. No (long) cycling rides this year, once again.

Man, admir. Really sorry for you.
This is actually the reason I pretty much gave up on football and only play on very rare occassions with some friends. The risks of injuries are far too high and it really affects cycling negatively, even if it's sometimes just the thing to rest for a day or two. It's just not worth it if you want to ride (or run) good and often during a week.

That is bad news brother, make sure you listien to the doc's and 6 months does sound like a long time but in the long term it really ins't, if it helps you heal then perfect and then you can be back in amongst it without fear of the injury coming back. Make sure you stay active in other ways which will aid you once you can start again.

It wouldn't be that awful if I weren't passive because of the same injury past 2 years. That's why it sucks.

The same, football. Rougly explained - I was actively playing football (2nd Serbian youth league) for 6 years and on a match, around ~2,5 years ago and at around the end of match, the patella (kneecap) on my right knee just disclocated, gone out of it's normal place and that hurted as hell. To make thing worse, I also stretched my ligament and for fucking hells sake I also hard nerve problems on my knee after that. It's not that serious, but it's coming back from time to time, so doctor decided to try fixing it forever and I'll have to rest of sports that requires squat, active knee moving (basically all sports) for next couple of months.
I agree, better rest and be passive now and heal the injury and possibility of it going forever than forcing it now and risk the possibility of many future, more serious injuries.
