If it comes to a sprint, Garzelli wins. Unless the very steep section is close to the finish than it looks on the profile. In which case, Scarponi.

I didn't get to watch the start of the race, so I'm wondering: Why did Klöden and Løvkvist allow the breakaway to get a gap? |

2. Garzelli
3. Klöden
4. Lövkvist
5. Basso

I doubt they did. Most likely they were dropped by the attacks.

They had to let go on the big climb.

they both got isolated the 'peleton' was down to about 10 riders going up the big hill and Kloden fell off the backl of that just before the top. I was watching up that hill and had absolutly no idea what was going on. There was a break with martinez at first but that got blown up as Scarponi's group went through.

I've had this feeling since mid 2007, but now I'm perfectly sure:
Klöden's time has passed.

I was thinking the same but Yesterdays TT restored my faith, also I have noticed that bar their big riders Astana have a very weak team.

i think issoisso meant his time has past for GCs, or mountain stages. But this guy is still very dangerous for TTs |

Well both Kloden and Contador have been badly isolated in the past week and given they both seem to think they are in good form I can't see why Astan wouldn't send some decent helpers.

Yeah, it's the natural devolution.
It's a progressive downhill from here, I guess.

At Paris-Nice they had Paulinho, Zubeldia and Popovych. One was caught in a crash and heavily injured. The other two were nowhere.
At Tirreno, the "best" they had was Brajkovic who retired due to a crash
.
At both races, second liners such as Muravyev, Noval and Navarro were extremely disappointing as well.
The problem isn't the squad. It's that the riders are off form and aiming for much later in the season.
