I do not focus on Boonen!

I'm anxious to see Cervelos decision of captain's role on Paris Roubaix on sunday. Maybe Hushovd now domestique ? rather not |

They made the decision public quite a long time ago: Haussler in Belgium, Hushovd in France. Which makes perfect sense, considering their respective characteristics. |

Then we have a winner: Heinrich Haussler.

Yep..Hushovd and Roubaix is married this year..he will race..and he will go after a win this. I belive this is he's second prime goal after TdF green. |

Hushovd could be out with a broken finger though, in which case Dan Lloyd may replace him in the lineup for Gent-Wevelgem. |

The x-rays showed that he didn't brake it... But he hurt badly though.

Don't know.. Haussler is just Domestique for Hushovd in P-R-
Boonen was pretty strong today but couldnt compete for the win cause everybody was looking at him to attack. Good decision by Quickstep to let Devolder attack alone. Tornado Tom will be the man to beat in Roubaix imo

Another great ride by Devolder. Also Haussler and Gilbert showed very good form with a great performance.
Just a shame that last fall in the sprint...really nasty
I have to disagree with this. Haussler wasn't great at all, he was pretty poor even. Dropped on almost every climb, was way behind for most of the time and one of the weakest Cervelo riders today. He was lucky he could stay away with the final K attack and that's it.
If I should rate the riders from good to bad it was : 1. Boonen 2. Pozzato 3. Devolder (who profited from team work, again), 4. Gilbert 5. Chavanel 6. Maaskant (top 10 on almost every climb and better towards the end) 7. Flecha
Ofcourse, the result barely reflect the strong men after first place, due to the big group finishing at the end |

I have to disagree, Haussler rode very well, not great, but very well (certainly not warranting the great Phil Ligget calling him the favorite halfway through the race). Gilbert, Maaskant, and Flecha do not deserve to be rated as high as guys like Manuel Quinzato (who rode very strong, considering he no where near as quality a rider as the other three mentioned.)
I would say that Chavanel and Devolder were the strongest riders (or at least the most resilient) today. I don't think you can really judge Pozzato or Boonen, as both were marked (by each other) and never really showed their stuff.
i think i just set a record for parentheses |

Sure Haussler didnt get any top10 in any climb but was he expected to do that?! He's been amazing this year but from what I know he's only shown that he can ride a classic this year and I don't remember any remarkable result in a pavé classic so for me he did pretty good 'just' because he was able to hold onto the major group and in the end having strength to push forward and take the 2nd place
plus why do you rate boonen and pozzato as good performers? In my persperctive they should have done more even though they were completely marked by the other teams. They should know better than I do that in a classic it's all about the position you cross the finish line and not the hills throughout the route.
Pozzato was able to grab a top3 in the final sprint which I consider it is nevertheless a good result.
Boonen's not even in the top10... I know he probably didnt have much will to fight for the 2nd or 3rd spot, but that doesn't make his ride good in my sight... He sould have done better anyway!

yeah i have to agree!boonen wasn't that good and i think devolder deserves his victory he was the strongest rider in the main situation of the race and i think that neither boonen nor pozzato or anyone else (maybe ballan but he did not compete) could ever hold his wheel. |

Great ride from Devolder. He was just so strong over the final 20k and then when he was interviewed at the end, he didn't even seem out of breath.
No doubt Boonen and Pozzato seemed strongest coming into the final stages. Pozzato said they were both done in by the time they got to the Kapelmuur though. Boonen, of course, had a different story.
I was mostly surprised by what happened to Hoste. I thought he might have given it a better go when he was away, even with Chavanal there. Is he on his way back from injury or something?
