not cycling related but hopefully will drill in minds that doping is not a cycling problem only.
Some english rugby player tested positive.

So it's either a sponsor issue or someone on the team/sponsor corporation has died/is ill/arrested/whatever.
that's even worse

"The stages in Tirreno are somewhat longer [than in Paris-Nice], with more climbing." - Boonen
What? As far as I know the routes haven't been announced yet, and the Tirreno having more climbing isn't exactly normal.
Am I missing something here? |

Maybe he just thought that Tirreno stages will be the same as Giro ones, and Paris-Nice stages the same as TdF ones. |

Matt Stevens, he plays prop for England and Bath, has tested positive for a recreational drug - possibly cocaine

Kohl has accepted his punishment (he will not appeal it), meaning that he's out until the 3rd of July 2010. |

The Spanish rider from FUJI-SERVETTO has already finished the initial phase of his oncological treatment, and is keeping firmly the desire to return to competition, in his 14th season as pro rider
DAVID CANADA GETS OVER SKIN CANCER
David Canada, a professional rider for team Fuji-Servetto, will not be able to get his 14th season as pro cyclist in world’s premier category started properly. The Spanish rider is getting over a first preventive oncological treatment cycle, that he had to face after being detected of suffering from an old melanoma, whose presence was first noted and removed in 2007, but had extended over the underarm glands of his left arm. Canada, who is almost keeping up his everyday life right now, and already started having soft physical exercise, keeps the desire to return into the international peloton, in which he always enjoyed from rather big respect. The Spanish rider has received as much support as needed from his team, which already guaranteed to keep a place for him in the team roster, or even in the team stuff, in charge of whatever he decides to take over, in case he cannot return riding.
“I’m feeling quite encouraged and I’m really eager to return to professional riding, if it’s once posible. I’d not like to say goodbye from pro cycling this way, but it’s really obvious that my main aim right now is to get totally recovered. I’ve already gone from the hardest part of the treatment, and I’m feeling really good physically; thus, the prospects for the future seem to be good. The support from my team has been basic in order to get over this desease with no pressure.”
David Canada will hold a press conference for the media interested on his thoughts on Thursday at 10.00 AM. The conference will be held in the Romareda Hotel in Zaragoza (Spain). |

Good luck to Cañada.
He's an underrated rider who's accomplished more than most people realise. He also did something that wasn't easy at all, a big transformation from prologue specialist to climber. And won some big races along the way. |

UCI sends out a press release, saying that their Pro Tour website has been fully updated to 2009.
I take a look at the calendar -- and Tour of Sochi is mentioned nowhere. |
