Sinkewitz denies he named Klöden

After all the fact that one of his neighbours got internet-ordered EPO in the mail for years is just a coincidence. The fact he later married that neighbour is also a complete coincidence...

UCI formally requests doubling of Vinokourov ban

By Shane Stokes

This weekend, the UCI filed its appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in relation to the length of the ban previously handed down to Alexandre Vinokourov. The Astana rider tested positive for a blood transfusion during the 2007 Tour de France but was only given a one-year suspension by the national federation of Kazakhstan.

The UCI is seeking to have the ban extended to two years, the norm for serious doping offences. "As far as the UCI is concerned, he wasn't given the right sanction in the first place," its president Pat McQuaid told Cyclingnews on Sunday. "The UCI needs to ensure that he gets what we feel is the right sanction. To do that, we needed to go to CAS, especially as there is speculation that he may try to come back in April."

McQuaid previously indicated several weeks ago that the UCI would take this course of action, following the news that the 35-year-old was planning on returning to cycling in time for the Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Irish federation seeking new high performance director
By Shane Stokes

Cycling Ireland has begun advertising for a new High Performance Director, seeking to fill the role previously held by Frank Campbell.

The Irish federation indicated recently that it wanted to get fresh blood in at the end of this Olympic year, with an eye of a strong showing on the track in London 2012 one of the stated targets.

According to the brief laid out by CI, the new High Performance Director will oversee the development and management of CI's high performance plan, recruiting and managing high performance staff, devising selection criteria, helping develop coaches, athletes and support staff, dealing with the Talent Identification and Talent Transfer programmes, liasing with CI's funding partners and running high performance activities.

The successful candidate should have an education to degree standard or equivalent – preferably in spots science – a full driving licence, experience in management and dealing with world-class athletes, as well as proven leadership and teamwork abilities. Good oral and writing communication skills, IT competence and networking ability are also of high importance, according to the ad.

Those interested in the role should contact CI's Executive Office Geoff Liffey by emailing , sending a CV and cover letter. The closing date for applications is January 16th. The post will be based in Dublin, but travel is clearly likely.

Think that will work?

Also funny how they write "world-class athletes" when were talking about irish cycling...

Schumacher is in complete denial. He has applied for a 2009 license and says that it's a difficult situation for his new employer, Quick-Step.

Pathetic.

In other news, rumours say that Skil-Shimano is very close at getting a wild card for the Tour.

YES!

Skil is awesome, isn't L'hottellie (I think i misspelled his name) riding for Cervelo now though?

CrueTrue
Nope, Vacansoleil.

Edit: And I just noticed that you think Duarte is suspicious. Skil-Shimano isn't any better Wink

I know, but I like how they try to develop Asian talent in Europe

CrueTrue
Yeah, well, not so much anymore. They've kept Doi and Beppu, but all the other Japanese riders will be riding on the new Shimano Japan team in 2009.

Interesting

Is Inoue riding for them by any chance

CrueTrue
I don't know where Inoue is going. As far as I know, he hasn't signed a contract for the 2009 season after being released from Amica Chips - Knauf (previously Nippo - Endeka).
