Unlucky, could have followed Vanmarcke when the trio attacked. Oh well, there's always next year (Liverpool fan)

FonsDeSpons - Very much so. He's a beast.
krisa - Yeah, the mistake is all mine (Antonio's). For some reason when I play MSR, there are always attackers that I don't see until they've got a lead. I'm always like: when did they attack? I always miss it!
Tamijo - Top 10 is always nice. His attack had some pinache but his final kilometers were not up to his expectations. OF course with Giro as big goal this season, he can't peak too early.
rogvi97 - Liverpool fans are the most patient in the world |

A bit underwhelming this time unforunately. Maybe the Ardennes will bring more luck then this year...

I thought so, too. When he couldn't catch the trio on the poggio and the peloton, lead by Sagan, was not too far off, I knew it'd be very tough to make it. I feel Antonio is not on top level but with the Ardennes still a few weeks away and then the Giro he has time to get his groove on! |

Masterblaster01 - Appreciate it! Vanmarcke with an impressive back to back win. Antonio needs to pay attention!
sutty68 - Well it's a sign that San Remo is really a race to his liking, with 1st, 14th and 10th, but he can win it, and he wants that! |

Welcome, fellow fans of Antonio Andolini, Italy's most lovable cyclist.
Today, Antonio rode his second Gent - Wevelgem. We remember from last years interview that Antonio isn't a big fan of the cobbles in Belgium. However, to get some more racing rhythm for the Ardenes classics and to help out Fontana, he once again went down to East-Flanders for Gent - Wevelgem (and perhaps the Ronde? Check out the latest rumors here!)
On the Kemmelberg a group of 27 rode away. Fontana and Antonio were caught behind and lost over 5 minutes. The victory of the day was gone. Once the cobbles were behind him, Antonio set himself to lead the peloton over the Flemish roads. And once again he showed his amazing strength by pulling the peloton on a single line.
Fontana was having an off-day and so Antonio got inspired to break away from the peloton, which he did. What followed was an impressive 20 km, where he picked up riders and left them behind. Group after group he devoured, until he finally finished, completely empty, on a 13th spot. We're proud to be Antonians today!

So What Does This Mean?
To be honest, today's race didn't teach us anything new. Antonio is a beast on the flat, we knew that. Today he proves that he can ride fantastically once the cobbles are behind him. But the cobbles themselves, or rather the bendy small roads leading up to them, remain unexplored for Antonio. He often starts the little bergs in the second half of the peloton, and that's not the position to contest for the win in a cobbled classics.
Sorry for lacking an interview with Antonio himself, but it's hard to reach him in Belgium. We will of course keep you updated. Don't forget to subscribe to the newsletter if you haven't already, with weekly updates and much more!
We would also like to welcome Gianni, our 2000th member of the Official Fan Club of Antonio Andolini! This fan club has its roots way back in Antonio's track days. An overview of his career highlights with the number of members at that time.

Thanks, Croatia.
After 2 years of only hearing Antonio's side of the story, I thought it was time for some change so for the next few seasons it'll probably be a mix of Fan Club - Antonio himself and Sportivo News.
Maybe something else if I think of it
Will give us a nice mix of more objective news, Antonio's thoughts and the hype-trainers

I love it! And I see some interesting similarities to my Euskaltel Story in that plan, which is an absolute honor for me.

Another great episode, and love the idea of multiple POV! also spartacus
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
