And so Marussia is the second of the new teams to fold completely (Caterham is still in administration and could still return to the sport). All staff are made redundant, not sure what will happen to their assets exactly but they'll most likely be sold off to try and settle the debts.
A knock-on effect of this is that Sauber will finish 9th in the constructors championship now. Extra money for them after a poor season but even so they will still be struggling for finance next season.
With Caterham very doubtful of a return this drops the field to 9 teams for next season, and 18 cars... Bernie should get a three car wish thanks to the clause dictating a 20 car minimum field. Expect lots of rumor over this weekend in Brazil as there will be "crisis talks" to resolve the situation.
Hopefull this will kickstart some sort of action across the paddock to address the financial problems in the mid- and back-field teams.
Also the driver market is settling out. Nasr will partner Ericsson at Sauber next season. This means there is one space at Torro-Rosso (probably Sainz Jnr), one at Lotus (imagine it would be Grojsean) and then the Red-Bull/Ferrari/McLaren switches still to be confirmed (Vettel to Ferrari, Alonso to McLaren and the other McLaren seat which is still unknown but Button seems to be the most common name currently).

In Germany, f.e. its the situation that develops since years...so jacob is right in this term...in Germany, around 45% will be under the "line of poorness", wenn they get their pension...the middle class extincts...
But BtT; Sad that Marussia and Caterham needed to quit. I really like Kamui, will miss him...
I hope that Lotus produces a great car for almighty Grosjean next year...would like to see him compete on top. Kimi vs Vettel will be interesting next year...I think that the friendship between those 2 will end at Ferrari. The team radio will be awesome...Vettel bitching and whining about simply everything and Kimi just being Kimi. God i hate Vettel. Alonso at McLaren, will be interesting, too. Especially with Honda OnBoard. Riccardo vs Kvyat will be cool, too. Riccardo is a good driver. He has proven, that he is not an average driver winning championships. Kyvat could be the next big thing, though.
Oh, and Hamilton will win the WC. He was/is just the better driver.

I think that Magnussen gets the seat. He is way younger than Button and he is quite good, though. And if Button doesn't get a Cockpit, i think he will retire. Button at Toro Rosso is not imaginable.

what Button has as an (claimed) advantage is that he raced with Honda engines before. honestly it could go either way
also is Nasr somewhat talented?

@Paul - Button is British (but boost for the British team), does carry a solid amount of sponsor backing, is reliable, relatively fast and one of the most experienced drivers on the grid. It would not be a surprise to see him in the seat with Magnussen forced outwards by Alonso.
I do agree that if McLaren don't give him a drive he will leave F1 and most likely retire as a driver completely.
@SSJ2 - He is currently 2nd in GP2 whilst also doing some testing with Williams. He's also won British F3 and Europe Formula BMW in the past. Interestingly he was part of the team that finished 2nd at the 24hr Daytona in 2012. So i'd say he is somewhat talented

so he's not as much of a pay driver as people claim here in the Netherlands (probably butt-hurt over Van der Garde )

@TMM: But Button said this year, that he will maybe retire. And Magnussen has some future, while Button hasn't. I really like Button, and he is quite experienced, but Magnussen seems to be the better choice for me.
@Luigi: Those Honda engines are completely different from the engines Button had back there. Its like when i say, that i have a Honda Civic, i have driven Honda engines before and now start in the F1, because i have so much experience with them.

Probably less of a pay-driver than Van der Garde is yes, but he'll still be bringing bucks

I´m pretty sure Button said he is worrying about Magnussen in the German "Sport Bild"...personally I see Magnussen as the McLaren driver, while Button will go for other racing projects. Didn´t he say he likes the American oval races a lot...
Another point is that Hulkenberg thinks about the 24h race-series...could be the case if Force India is forced to have a second pay-driver (f.e. a mexican Team Perez/Guiterrez) |

Hulkenberg has a "multi-year" deal with Force India, as does Perez. It should be the same line-up for 2015 as far as i've read.

So if Bernie gets his 3 car wish for next season which teams would be the most likely to run 3 cars or would he be looking for all teams to run 3 cars? Also which drivers would likely be available to take those extra seats?

Ferrari and Red Bull are in favor of three cars, and i imagine Mercedes and McLaren can also afford it. Williams is borderline. Torro Rosso does whatever Red Bull does, so 3 cars given the chance.
Sauber and Force India could not afford to without some serious help.
Plenty of drivers available following the collapse of Caterham and MArussia alongside the usual horde of people desparate to get a seat.

personally think that if teams are getting 3 cars only Ferrari, McLaren/Mercedes will use it. all the other teams don't have the financial fundings to use three cars and Red Bull already has Toro Rosso as third and fourth car (although they might use 3 cars just for the championships)

just Mclaren, Redbull and Ferrari are bound by a contract to have 3 cars at the line next year. Ferrari and Rebull said yes(so much idiotism -.-) and McLaren thinks about backing out. This way, Mercedes would come into the game. These seats will be reserved for Rookies only.
tbh...this idea is crap. F1 will go down with this. It will cost much more to build/prepare 3 cars for the weekends. Big teams would have an advantage though with 3 cars and nobody knows at the moment, who needs to pay for this shit.
They need to reallocate the money in the F1. Otherwise next year, Lotus, Sauber and Force India will stop their racing and with Haas coming 2016, there will be 7 teams left...that would be the end!

Haas already delayed a year, from 2015 to 2016, because of the inability to reduce costs and establish an budget cap. Fully be prepared for the team to delay again or withdraw completely if things keep moving in this direction.
So make that 5 teams with 4 cars

Would be a shame if F1 would go down with this. It has been my favorite sport for years. But this shit, and DRS are so fucking bad, that i think about c<cling as myx favorite sport.
