Fertonani stopped for two years
Francesco Plotino of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) issued the confirmation of the two-year ban of Marco Fertonani given by the Italian cycling federation (FCI) in December. The 31 year-old Italian from Genova tested positive for testosterone during the 2007 Tour Méditerranéen, and was suspended by his team, Caisse d'Epargne, when the results were made public in July.
Jesús Manzano questioned by CONI
Spaniard Jesús Manzano was questioned by anti-doping prosecutor of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) on Saturday in Rome, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport . Head prosecutor Ettore Torri opened Operación Puerto investigations in mid-January on riders and team staff, even if they are not Italian.
The 29 year-old ex-professional, Manzano, admitted early-on to being a client of the doctor at the centre of Operación Puerto, Eufemiano Fuentes. He has made accusations against his former Kelme team-mate Alejandro Valverde in the past and also claimed to have knowledge that it was not only cyclists who were working with the Spanish doctor.
I would like to point out that the party referred to in the second article is currently employed by the party referred to in the first article.
Or in plain english: Valverde is guiltier than sin

Seems like the final battle is soon going to take place. ASO has said that Paris-Nice is going to follow the rules of the French federation, UCI has said they are not allowed to do that, the winner will not be acknowledged by UCI, and UCI doesn't want any teams to take part in P-R. The teams which do take part will be excluded from all other UCI-events. |

Talking about Paris-Nice. TV2 Sport doesn't show the race? :S I've looked up the 9 March, and nothing there about cycling. |

Notice that he says he's going to comment it for TV2 Sporten, not TV2 Sport. That means it will (probably) be shown on one of the other TV2-channels, f.e TV2, TV2 Zulu, or something like that. |

good. I've been saying for a while that things will go nowhere until one of the two sides crumbles into a huge fireball. not that the other side will do any good at all to cycling. quite the contrary. but it won't be as bad as it is now

I hope the teams stick with the UCI as much as I dislike the organization which does little for the rights of its athletes. I just dislike the French at the ASO more

I'm sure they'll reach an 11th hour agreement, and the bravado will cool off until the Classics...
Or will it? |

I'd bet 10€ that they'll reach a last minute agreement though... |

given the rate of the dollar I'm pretty sure you're wagering more than his house and car are worth
but in all seriousness, I'm pretty sure they'll reach a last minute agreement which will basically be exactly what ASO wanted, or damn near close to it. And even then the ASO will still find a way to disrespect the agreement

ASO has now responded by saying that they don't care if UCI doesn't show up. The French anti-doping federation will take care of the doping controls, and in general, French law will apply.
They have said, however, that they are waiting for the teams to react before they sign a "contract" with the French Anti-Doping Federation. |

I didn't read much about it yet in any place, but according to L'Equipe.fr today, CONI has requested a 2 years ban against Di Luca because of a positive test after the 17th stage of the last Giro.
No idea of what the product was though... |
