I just came up with an idea (though it's a bit late).
Make the riders more personal. I mean, make us feel that they are true. Make interviews and make them more critical when it comes to sign contracts. Make it harder to get Contador in 2nd season to Team Cult, that shouldn't be possible, but let the team know WHY he won't join them.
Also you should make it harder to build a small team up to a good. In PCM you can just sign some good riders and the best u23. It's VERY unrealistic.
At last you should do something so the teams nationality has some kind of influence so a Colombian rider won't join a danish team, especially not if he has offers from other team.
So the key words to make a better game is: Make the game realistic, deeper and more challenging. |

Going a bit off-topic here, i have a question for you PCM13 owners: did they ever remove that salary cap of 600.000€ for rider wages?
My last game was PCM11 but i remember we were yelling at cyanide 4 years in a row that they should remove it

really? i am considering to reduce it to 10.000€ just to piss you off
I cant describe how much i hated that salary cap suddenly all your money became useless when you hit that cap.
In our game you need good results and great sponsor confidence to get more money, after that you can spend all the money you have on whatever you want. Want to spend 3 mio € to buy contador loose? no problem if you have the cash.
Getting the cash is a challenge in itself though.

Two suggestions for your game:
1. Make a fitness planning system that doesn't start in January. Seriously. I am planning my season right now and the fact that you can only start building fitness in January and not earlier has two distinct consequences.
First of all it makes you able to ride competitively from January up to a final peak at the end of April. In PCM, if you let your rider peak for the Ardennes classics, he starts building up at the very start of the season. But everyone who is peaking for the cobbles, Milan-San Remo, Paris-Nice and everything before that is using the exact same build up. The result: You can be fully competitive with just one rider from January 1st up until April 31st, with no required drops in form. This is unrealistic.
Second, it's also unrealistic because cobbled riders usually start building up earlier. You can read all about Cancellara this year and Boonen last year: if you have a bad winter, you won't be in top form at the cobbles. In other words: build-up for them starts in December already.
I would recommend trying to revise the fitness and peaking system so that it matches real-life build-ups and peaks as much as possible.
2. Another suggestion for you is have a sponsor demand that you sign a certain type of rider, and maybe from a specific country. We have to a certain extent this in PCM already with sponsor satisfaction, but what I mean is a negotiation system where your sponsor says "I want you to sign rider type X from nation Y to podium in race Z or you won't get the extra 150.000 in budget I am offering you."

@SportsNL:
1. Fitness system
Thank you for pointing it out, i have some early prototypes running for the fitness mechanic with variable fitness growth so two riders with the same schedule wont hit the same fitness each day. I agree that we need a "tougher" mechanic in place to ensure that hitting max form is more of a challenge for each rider. Early peakers like Boonen, Zabel etc has mentioned several times that december/january are the crucial months for their training so somehow we need schedules that begin earlier than january and maybe start the game a few months before the actual season begins. So if the game it set for 2015 your career begins 1/12 - 2014 instead of 1/1 2015. Also a new mechanic for the fitness:
- When racing your training fitness is locked, this forces you to mix racing with racefree weeks to ensure that the rider build a solid mix of both fitness types.
2. Rider picks by sponsors
The mechanic you are talking about is already planned. The sponsor will pick a few riders each season that they expect you to assign for the next season. These riders will be nominated if their contract ends in the current season. Failing to aquire these riders will negatively impact your sponsor confidence and loyalty (the chance of them renewing their sponsor contract).

No, an XML stage editor, as in PCM 2009...maybe, if someone wants to create a stage, but he hasn't got the GPX, he can realize it from XML... |

Would it be posible to have it dynamic from season to season so if a rider finishes the first season on level 4 fitness then he would start the next season on the same level?
I think this would be a better solution for riders like the aussies targetting their national championships and the TDU and other early season races.
obviously this wouldn't really help with the first season but for all future seasons I can see it being a benefit.

@senegalese: interesting idea but i think our stage editor will end up much like what you know from PCM today to early to tell though.
@sammyt93: I see your point. Currently the fitness resets during the holiday and pre-season (currently in late november). Then preparations for the next season begins with the player having team building camps in november and riders beginning to train for the next season in december, culminating in a preseason training camp in january.
Australien riders (both AI and human controlled) can pick schedules aimed at january ensuring that they will be in good shape for Tour down Under and the RR's. They wont peak in january since most aussie riders today still find it to early and wants to peak later in the season. Slightly unrealistic but Aussie riders will still perform well in january and show their passion for national races which is the most important aspect to achieve
