@sutty68: the last Time Trial was not really to his advantage, he is really lacking experience in that field
Halle - Ingooigem
That was my last race of preparation for the French Road Race National Championships, the team did well as Nacer took the victory in front of the German rider André Greipel ( LTB).
Looking at the profile and you say whaou this is kind of unusual to put cobblestone on a NC race. Me, I was pleased to see such a race, it could totally fit me if there wasn't riders like Sylvain Chavanel ( IAM) or Damien Gaudin ( ALM) or even my two team mates (Yoann & Matthieu) for whom I will be working today.
Race Report:
Today, 11 riders were allowed to make the race at the front, we were pacing the pack with the help of AG2R La Mondiale and Europcar.
First rider to launch the hostilities, Sebastien Hinault ( IAM) left the pack with 101 kilometers to go.
Then the things went rather calm until the last 30 kilometers where Vincent Jérôme ( EUC) attacked. The cobblestones had started and the size of the pack was divided by at list 3.
There was a huge fight but unfortunately I was not part of it, I suffered a puncture in the final lap and I had not the strength to join the front men.
Sylvain Chavanel ( IAM) was way above the rest today and he made the double as few days earlier he had won the Time Trial Championships. Matthieu came in second and Yoann ended 3rd. I made a good finish regarding to my flat tire as I ended at the 10th position.

Too bad we missed the jersey, luckily for the team, Jussi managed to keep his and we will still have a National Champion in the team.
Concerning the racing, I'm not sure yet but I shall ride the Tour de Wallonie in order to prepare the late classics and the World Championships if I ever get selected.
Two generations, two differents style of riding but the same passion, the passion of cyclism. Anthony Geslin, the experienced one, had some pretty good records including a third position in the world championships in 2005 behind none other than Tom Boonen ( OPQ) and Alejandro Valverde ( MOV). And Anthony Louveille, the young talent that seems unstopable, at this day he already totalized 17 victories and more than 50 top 10, he is certainly the future of the French Cyclism. We had the chance to meet them during the second rest day of the Tour de France.
Journalist: First, I want to know who do you describe the style of each other?
Anthony G: I'm the older so I will start (laugh). Antho is quite amazing, he has the capacities to win race in every fields, he is good on cobblestones, hilly terrain, punchy finishes. He has that impulsivity of youth that made his strenght and he is sure of himself, I don't remember seing him doubting about a race.
Anthony L: What can I say after that? that man is a just an old fool who should retire before falling off his bike. I'm kidding, of course, he is still in great shape and riding to his side is conforting, I may have the impulsivity, but he has the race science, he know when we have to make the move, he is our captain, even when he is not the leader, I mean especially when he is not the leader, that man know what to do to counter the plan of other team to make the race to our adventage.
Journalist: Your calendars are pretty much the same, is this something you wanted or is this part of the youth teaching program of the Madiot Brothers?
Anthony G: Last year it was kind of imposed to us, Anthony had to chose which rider should be his mentor, he chose me as I had a race program that correspond to his abilities, but soon when I saw him won races I took pleasure riding with him, teaching him the job and all that stuff. But this year I wanted to help him defend his title in the PMU French Cup.
Anthony L: Exactly, last year when I arrived, Marc Madiot explained me that I had to chose a rider to be my mentor, I immediatly chose Anthony as I saw in him a great teacher, he know his stuff, he is respected in the pack and he is a good friend.
Journalist: Lets Talk about your future, What's next for you?
Anthony L: I don't know really, I fell like I shall stay with FDJ for more years but I've received some very interesting offers from forreing team. For the moment I don't have a contract for next year but I'm sure I got one even with the fact that I will be unavailable for at list 8 months.
Anthony G: Well, as you might have read it, I'm leaving for Bretagne next season where I will have the opportunity to lead more races. I'm not in conflict with FDJ but I'm getting old and I'm thinking of being a DS for this team in one or two years.
Journalist: I'm asking to the young boy know, can you tell us name of the teams that approach you?
Anthony L: Yes, there is Omega Pharma - QuickStep, but they already have a very strong squad for the classics, there is also Argos - Shimano, an interesting offer as the classic men are not many and I could have a chance to lead some races. The last I'm allowed to talk about is a surprinsing offer made by the Russian Tinkoff, he saw in me the potential future Peter Sagan ( CAN) and he don't want to miss such an opportunity.
Journalist: Thanks for the answer. On a completely different topic, you're are both pre-selected for the World Road Race Championships, It will be a first for one and a come back for the other what do you think of this year profile?
Anthony G: This is a race made for a puncher, for a Spanish like Valverde ( MOV) or Rodriguez ( KAT), but many riders could get their chances, I'm also thinking of riders like Nacer ( FDJ), John Degenkolb ( ARG) or even Tom Boonen ( OPQ) who can handle the hills pretty well.
Anthony L: I would lie saying that I'm not thinking of a result there, but yes, A puncher or a sprinter that can handle hills will be new World Champion this year.
Journalist: Final Question to Anthony Louveille, you were with the best this year in the Ronde van Vlaanderen, next year you will not be there to confirm that results, don't you fear people will forget you?
Anthony L: This would be great to be forgotten, I could came back there without any pressure and take the race as it goes, but this is in two year, who know what can happen before that?
Anthony G: If I may, I think that Antho will make one hell of a come back in july 2015, he will be fresher than many riders in the pack and this will play in his favor.
Journalist: Thanks boys for the answers, Anthony Geslin good luck for the end of the Tour de France and Anthony Louveille we can't wait to see you racing again.
It's now official, I will come back to racing in the Tour de Wallonie, and I might go to china and japan too at the end of the season
Hi there,
August is almost over, and I had a very long talk with Marc and Yvon Madiot. I learned in that meeting that my contract would not be renewed for next year, they also told me that if it was depending on them they would keep me but the sponsor is not fan with having an unavailable rider from November to July.
I told them that if it was about the money I could make efforts like for example not being paid during my off period, but it looks like I'm not the only rider of the team in that situation.
I will have to find a new contract for next season which at list from July to January. I already have some contact and my dad who is also my agents is really working hard for me.
I will keep you updated about my situation.
@sutty68: Things like that happens every time in cycling, this time it was for me
Quest to a contract Part 1
"Dad, i've got bed news, FDJ decided not to sign a new contract with me, I will need your help on that, could you make a list of teams that could be interested in me?"
"Hi son, sorry to hear that are you okay?"
"Well, I'm a bit disoriented, I did not see that coming."
"After your race you shall come to the house, your mom would be very happy to see you. And about your contract don't worry you'll get one."
"Okay thanks for the help, call me if you have more news."
After that phone call I went to my bathroom I took a 1 hour shower, I needed to that to refocus on the season.
What can I say about that race, it was perfect 4 stage wins, the overall victory the points jersey a,d the young jersey too. I'm happy about my race, I was always the lead out for Arnaud and looking at his results we can say that I did a good job. Plus I'min the final top 10 which is an interesting achievement for me now that I am looking for a team.
@welker3257: sometime changes are for are best sometime not
Quest to a contract Part 2
I did what my dad told me, after the tour de wallonie I packed my things and I went to my parents' house. It's a small house, no upstairs, surrounded by the mountain of Jura. I grew up there dreaming of my future as a professional cyclist and here I am now wondering what next season will be for me.
I was also there to talk with my dad about my contract. He told me some good news, some other were bad but the worst of them was that Omega Pharma - QuickStep resigned their offer.
I'm not desperate yet but the pressure is rising, I'd really like to get a team before christmas.
That was a race like I was not used too, it kind of remind me the race when I was in junior, many attacks but no breakaway. The only 3 riders who managed to leave the pack were Maxime Bouet ( ALM), Javier Moreno Bazan ( MOV) and Miyataka Shimizu ( BGT). The maximum gap was only 1'30.
But with the work of the whole team, we brought them back and we prepare for the sprint, Arnaud was our man again here and our train was very powerful.
Arnaud was the big favorite here and he did not deceive us, he took an easy win that might be his 15th of the season. I ended at the 6th position.

I seem unreachable, and it looks like the other French team gave up their ambitions on the French Cup.
Concerning the race, it was good to ride there and I feel like there is a slight chance that I raise my arms once again in the season.
I staid with my parents during 4 days, after I have to leave to England for my next race. During these 4 days I thought of everything but cycling. I had great time with my mom whom I had not seen since the French National Championships. I felt she was sad not seeing me that much but it's my job and it easier for me to leave in Flanders for the training.
There was my brother too, he is not into cycling at all, he prefers Arts and he is a talented drawer. He will soon be 17 and it was good to spend some time with him. This boy is amazing, as he might not be fan of cycling but he is so proud of me that he made a comic with me as the main character. Too bad he don't want to share, you would have been amazed by his work.
This was a calm race, the breakaway had no trouble to escape and the pack did not put too much pressure on them. It was composed of 4 riders and they were getting on pretty well.
With the incredible work of David Boucher ( FDJ) the breakaway was back in the pack 20 kilometers from the finish, the team was well organized and we kept the control of the race.
Then when there was few kilometers left, we made our train, I was the last before Arnaud.
And of course, no one but Arnaud could have won this race, he did it perfectly after I launched him with 250 meters left.
I took a pleasant 10th position.

Belgium ITT National Championships
After working hard for Arnaud in the previous races, David Boucher ( FDJ) had the pleasure of winning his national ITT Championshps in front of Jurgen Van Den Broeck ( LTB) and Gijs Van Hoecke ( TVB).

I'm now in Belgium for the Eneco Tour, I rode well there last year and I really hope to do better this year.
I'm back in a World Tour race, I will give everything I have here since it might be decisive for potential future contracts. Even though I have already some offers, (which I'll reveal you after the race), I don't want to close doors.
Concerning the tactics it's everyone for Arnaud in case of mass sprint and for the only hilly stage I will be the leader.
Stage 1
That stage was a prologue of 7.4 kilometers, and even though I'm not the best in such a discipline, when I crossed the line I was 2nd 1" behind Ian Stannard ( SKY).
Our best results is David Boucher who was wearing his national ITT champion jersey, he ended at the 5th position with Johan right behind him at the 6th position.
I prefer showing a picture of David since I look awful on a time trial bike.
Stage 2 & 3
The best world's sprinters were not all present here and it gave Arnaud great opportunities. He was well protected and when the finish was close, you can be sure that all the team was supporting Arnaud.
With class, he won the two stages taking of course the points jersey.

The first three stages went perfect for the team as most of us did not lose time, we are still in the competition for the GC ranking which is of course one of our goal here.
I had great expectation toward this stage, this was a test to see where I was against riders like Philippe Gilbert ( BMC) or Simon Gerrans ( OGE).
David Boucher went in the breakaway, they had a consistent lead but behind IAM was controlling.
4 riders made the move with 33 kilometers to go, there were Simon Spilak ( KAT), Gianni Meersman ( OPQ), Jürgen Roelandts ( LTB) and Johan Esteban Cháves Rubio (OGE). The pack let them leave and it was too late I missed the good attack.
In the last climb, Gianni Meersman ( OPQ) and Johan Esteban Cháves Rubio (OGE) left the rest of their group, it's the Belgian rider that was the fastest in the final sprint.
I arrived 6th 1'09 late but I beat Gerrans.
Stage 5
The 10 kilometers time trial that everyone was fearing, I had a special tactic here, I rode hard in the first climb and then I rest in the down hill which allow me to gave everything I had left in the final climb.
After me there were only five riders to go and when I arrived, I had the best time of the day beating Bauke Mollema ( BEL) by 3".
I waited for the last five riders to arrive and when Gianni Meersman ( OPQ) crossed the line, I was still first on the stage Ranking.
I could not believe I had won a Time Trial and in world tour against better riders than me.

Winning the time Trial of that race was not really in my plans, I was more focus on stage 4 but it seems that my tactics and my work with Julien Pinot paid off, it was my second victory in a world tour race, I'm know looking for the top 5 of that Race.
