Sorry Ian, but VdB never won a thing, to be called big caliber.

4th in the Tour. He's turned into an impressive climber/attacker. I'd call him a big caliber. Really nothing to do with Nationalism or anything like that. I didn't really "like" him before, but he's turned into an impressive rider. |

I think VDB should focus more on other races besides TdF. I think we all know he can't win the Tour, but with a good fitness he could get far in races like Catalunya, Pais Vasco, Romandie.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Great day for Garmin, with three in top 10, Danielson is strong coming from suspension.

He has like one major stage win in 10 years? But i know he is good, just not stage winner on big stages.

Great ride from Martin. He'll probably lose the GC to Purito on Montjuic, though.
Bit of a breakthrough for Stetina as well

I will not catch that bait.
We are talking stage wins here, i suppose one of them has more WT stage wins in last three years.
Just wait for next two weeks.

He has just one stage win in all his career. A rider than can top 5 the Tour should have much more, plus some minor stage races. Heck, even Cavendish can win stage races.

Enjoyed that climb a real battle on these cold looking slopes.
I guess Valverde crashing helped the breakaway efforts - but still another one of those Vaughters type coups. Superb ride from Martin, just went for it and a well deserved win holding that 90 second gap for an age. I notice Stetina and Danielson finised with Wiggins as well, so a superb day for Garmin.
Given how the stage finished it appears as if Katusha threw that away a bit by sitting behind the Sky doom train.

Katusha seemed to have the bodies there too but seemed hard to break the habit of sitting behind Sky. Clearly not as strong a train as Katusha thought it was :/ |

Well, Gesink for sure showed some fighting spirit all the time after getting dropped by Van den Broeck. In the end, lost only 4 seconds to him. Great ride!
And Martin was exceptional, really deserved the win! Although I don't think he can stay in the GC-lead in the final (Montjuic)stage.

No, actually that was my point. That's why I said: a guy of that caliber should get a stage win now and then. |
