I love muddy crosses, too bad most of the crosses nowadays are on hard surface or sand and with many corners... high-speed. "new cross" they call it, i hate it.
i don't the sand
i mind the races with average of around the 25-30 km/h.
thats no longer cross.
to Valor. muddy earth compared to muddy ice is very different. if oyu have ever done cyclocross you must have felt that.
i did. muddy ice is still quite solid ( in most cases)

Funny thing is that Belgians best rider for the future, Niels Albert, is a specialist at these high speed or corner crosses...lol
So i have a feeling they will make even more of those

I suppose thats why it was a bit of a surprise then that he won.
What does Boom like. I would have thought that dry would be his game because of his skill on the road. |

No, Boom sucks at corners. He is a really good rider in the muddy crosses with long straights. He has a lot of power.
Last year he won Pijnacker, Lievin and Hoogerheide world cups, all mud crosses...
the worls he won was mainly because of great form, not because the race was suited for him, it wasn't really. |

muddy? in a 100% muddy race, he won't win either.
Boom is a bit the all arounder TT.
Like you said Boom likes long long straigth lines, so he can use his TT-skill.

Riding in mud is technique just like cutting corners. thats why albert will always be better in the muddy races.

sorry about the dubbel post ....

You clearly haven't seen Hoogerheide and Lievin last year. That was 100% muddy, especially Hoogerheide...
Good joke though, Albert better than Boom in mud races, you are funny.

ive seen them all. believe me.
Boom is good at muddy races ( i don't deny that) but albert is still beter.
why do you think that boom and not albert became WC at the u23?
it was an icy solid parcours . i was there. he won due to his TT-skils
i go to a lot of cyclocrosses. Take an example Hooglede last year.
it was NYs vs Boom for a long time( i'm not taking the late revival of welles in mind).
Nys constantly attacked on the muddy terrain. Boom lost time constantly on the muddy turns/pieces of the parcours. but in that parcours there is also a long strech near the water ( small lake)
and boom constantly took back time on that.
i can give you tons of examples.......
Boom is a good cyclocrosser (no doubt about that) and he's quite good in the mud( no doubt about that). But he's better at solid sterrains so he can use his TT-skills ( see the WC).
I'm sure that he will once reacht the level of a Nys/wellens in the mud

Wrong again, Boom sucked at icy solid races, it was Stybar who profited from that and won the U23 championship twice.
The third the time race was MUDDT and Boom completely destroyed Albert (+1m30) |

dude seriously stop being so patriotic
when we look to last year, ive seen albert begin better in the mud
when you look at the classifications in U23. then Boom was far from better then Albert.
you make it sound like boom is superman. so i wonder do you even follow cyclocross? or are you just routing for boom?

Just a little intervention:
Boom is one of the best riders on mud, but i haven't seen him on mud yet (thanks to czech TV) and neither I have seen Albert. I'm sure Pijnacker will tell the truth.
But there's one more thing: Despite many pelople say Stybar is dry and icy rider and Dlask is the muddy one, both could score good on their unfavourised courses in the past.
So I have a teory that will be total opposite of Ruben's and Vranke's ones: When rider is well prepared, he can score good even on the terrain he does not like (Stybar on mud, Boom on snow and Boonen in high mountains). |

thats right. still one race can't make you determine whether he's a good mud racer.I 'm looking over the course the season. the tournaments WB- GVA-superprestige. off course Boom is good at some races , thats because he aims at those races...

Is it possible to watch GvA trofee veldrijden on-line? I know VT4 broadcasts superprestige, but I'd really like to watch GvA too. |

What does this means? I guess it's something like I can follow Gva trofee live on sport.be. |
