The first one to spot the DB mistake I made, gets 1 point into his scoreboard in post #4!
Tirreno - Adriatico Stage 5
Today a really hard stage awaits the riders finishing on the Prato di Tivo. Who will be the toughest nut to crack?
A familiar face in the BotD! Guess who wanted try his legs? Yes, it's the slovekian wonderkid Peter Sagan! A test before the MSR, or what is this?
In the peloton Katusha took the responsability to chase, and gave it all. The break was just about to be caught at the middle of the 2nd first category climb, when...
...Andy Schleck attacks and takes Porte with himself. They get a 40sec gap very quickly. Andy drops Porte at the mountain and keeps the gap constant.
Despite his effort, he gets caught on the last climb, and that rush creates some splits, and Mellberg is caught a bit behind the favorites group.
The pace drops a bit in the first group, and because of this, the young swedish rider, Mellberg gets back into the group! Great effort by him! To pretend this happening with too many people, Gusev starts to pace the group, and when he finishes it then Purito will take over.
As soon as Purito hits the front, a really serious selection happens, leaving just Schleck and Betancur with Rodriguez. Mellberg continues in his own pace, and catches up slowly in the final kilometre.
And the spaniard, J-Rod wins his 2nd consicutive stage in Italy! He is clearly the strongest there! Betancur and Schleck rounds out the top 3, and Mellberg gets 4th after a great finish.
1 | JoaquÃm RodrÃguez | Katusha Team | 5h53'21 | 2 | Carlos Betancur | AG2R La Mondiale | + 19 | 3 | Andy Schleck | RadioShack - Nissan | s.t. | 4 | Jan Mellberg | SpiderTech - Cervélo | s.t. | 5 | Chris Anker Sørensen | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | + 1'10 | 6 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 7 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Procycling | + 1'21 | 8 | Marco Pinotti | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 9 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | + 1'39 | 10 | Vladimir Gusev | Katusha Team | + 1'50 |
Purito takes over the blue jersey and Mellberg sneaks into the top 3.

Tirreno - Adriatico Stage 6
This is the last chance for the punchers to take time on the pure TTists. Let's see if there is someone able to get time out of the others.
Today's BotD was consisting of 5 riders with Gavazzi and Gerdemann being the biggest names.
The pace in the peloton was quite slow, as no team wanted to chase the break, and they got a >10min advantage. This gap was constant, and with 40km to go it was really looking good for the break, as they were 9min ahead.
The pack was going really slow through the climbs, so on the penultimate climb Hushovd and Cunego decided to give it a go and attacked. However, they didn't get too far, as Katusha controlled them easily and it was all together before the final climb.
Meanwhile the break was fighting for the stage-win, and with Gavazzi and Canuti being the best sprinters amongst them, they were the clear favorites.
Federico Canuti wins after being in the break the whole day! He outsprinted the fellow countrymen Gavazzi after a hard-fought battle on the final climb!
While the break was fighting for the stage, the peloton started the final climb under the control of Katusha. With the high pace killing the legs, nobody was able to attack J-Rod, who was sitting on the wheel of his teammate Dani Moreno. Mellberg was feeling good and decided to take the race leaders wheel before the sprint.
Right as the sprint started, Betancur went hard and created a bit of a gap. Rodriguez started to worry a bit and lauched himself after Betancur, with Mellberg following strong.
And Mellberg beats the others after wheelsucking J-Rod! He even creates a little gap to the others, but the race organisers decide that this is not enough to have an individual time. Tough luck, but they might be right.
1 | Federico Canuti | Liquigas - Cannondale | 5h14'51 | 2 | Francesco Gavazzi | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 3 | Bert-Jan Lindeman | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | Mikel Landa | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 5 | Linus Gerdemann | RadioShack - Nissan | + 40 | 6 | Jan Mellberg | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 4'29 | 7 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 8 | JoaquÃm RodrÃguez | Katusha Team | s.t. | 9 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 10 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Procycling | s.t. |
No changes, and Rodriguez is looking really comfortable to take it before the short TT.
1 | JoaquÃm RodrÃguez | Katusha Team | 28h10'14 | 2 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Procycling | + 1'54 | 3 | Jan Mellberg | SpiderTech - Cervélo | + 1'56 | 4 | Chris Anker Sørensen | Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank | + 2'29 | 5 | Marco Pinotti | BMC Racing Team | + 2'32 | 6 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Procycling | + 2'37 | 7 | Andy Schleck | RadioShack - Nissan | + 3'38 | 8 | Fabian Cancellara | RadioShack - Nissan | + 3'47 | 9 | Carlos Betancur | AG2R La Mondiale | + 4'18 | 10 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - ISD | + 5'25 |
Mellberg - 1 strongest of the bunch, he really deserves it. |

Mellberg is in great shape. If Bahr fails at Milan-San Remo, he can try to attack and win it. |

After taking a look on Mellberg's form, he MIGHT be our first plan for the MSR, as his fittness is way better right know. It's always good to have 2 plans.

Thanks, and I think we have to live with the jury, perhaps they will give it back to us.

Yeah, I really like this time of the year, so I'm really happy with the teams performance! Hopefully when we launch our big names, the GC's and one-day races (do you know a guy, who is decent on the cobbles? ) will give us better results. |

Tirreno - Adriatico Stage 7
The final stage of the Tirreno is a fairly short, only 8km long TT, which givest the Time-Trialists a chance to take some time on the pure climbers. Cancellara/EBH for the win?
In the first 100 riders, the biggest name was Malori who sat poor time and got beaten by many riders, including Bahr, Moore and Noble. When the really big names turned up, it was Geraint Thomas in the lead.
The first favourite out was the swiss powerhouse, Fabian Cancellara. He was really strong, and powned Thomas's time by 23(!) seconds. What an impressive performance, he is surely in a good form before the classics.
The second big contender out was the italian Pinotti, who was surely eager to show that he still has it. He completes the course in 13'06, which means that he is slower than Cance by 24sec.
After some bad TTers, here is our man Jan Mellberg! He isn't terrible TTist, but he also can't be considered as a good one. At the end of the day, he loses a bunch of time, and gets down from the bike angrily. What the hell has happened?
While the reporters asking Jan some serious questions about his strange (suspicious(J-Rod like)) fallback, GC number 2nd EBH went out, and got close to Spartacus, but couldn't beat him.
The last rider on the course was GC leader Joaquim Rodriguez, who had a comfortable lead beforer the stage. He didn't do a good TT (but that was expected), but kept his lead easily. That means, that he won the Tirreno - Adriatico! Congratulations, this was a great win by him, with a bit of dominating in stage 4 and 5.
